There’s definitely some crazy “tribalism” going on. Not sure what makes some people think Toyota “couldn’t” engineer a better car by themselves…you’d think Toyota was the company that nearly went bankrupt, not Nissan.
I too loved the stock sound, but after disabling ASD (first mod for many of us), the car is a little too quiet for me.
I started with just an AA catted DP and it does help, but still wasn’t enough. AWE fixed all that!
My helmet also touches the headliner. It doesn’t stop me from turning my head while driving in anger, so I just deal with it. If I were much taller or proportioned differently, I might need to change seats to drive it. I’m 6’3”, for reference.
+1
The auto is brilliant at autocross. Start with “traction mode” (single press), and turn it all off after you get a feel for things.
Traction mode is pretty permissive but will still kill some of the rotation you want if you carry too much speed into a tight corner - it will understeer a bit...
I hit 11111 miles the other morning.
We took a road trip from PDX to SFO recently and piled on 2k. It was an awesome car for a 3 day road trip with my better half.
Car is dusty from the trip. Believe me, it hurts me as much as it hurts you.
Looking forward to watching your build and experience with the car progress. I came from an 86 before as well (supercharged, part of the time). I’d love to compare a Supra 2.0 with it at autocross.
After 1 autocross event I’m seeing significant wear on the outside shoulder of my fr and rr tires. I’m happy to go with SPL control arms, but I’m concerned about ride height sensor issues. Is there a consensus about whether these will cause issues?
Thanks!
Autocrossed her. What an absolutely awesome toy. She got so many compliments from other drivers and course workers (“beautiful”, “so, so fast”, “sounds amazing”, “that thing is badass”).
If you haven’t had time to hit a track day or autocross with your Supra yet, I highly encourage you to give...
I can’t speak for the 2.0 with standard dampers, but the adaptive dampers are excellent. Firm enough in sport without beating you up. A little softer in normal mode, but the car is still responsive and fun to drive.
There’s a good amount of suspension travel, which is helpful for spirited...
I have the same issue. In my previous cars (with BT but no Apple Carplay) I always set my phone’s volume to around 75% and then used the car’s head unit to control volume.
In the Supra, Carplay is about half the volume as XM.
