I like Chris Harris - but im surprised by his review.
His issue isn't that its not a good car, his issue is that its too BMW. Having driven one, and sat in my sisters 440 - yep - its pretty much identical inside in terms of switchgear, infotainment system etc, and it is really disappointing...
Thing is though - they can price it at what they want, what they actually sell it for is the real issue.
These are GT3's with a huge wealthy fanbase who are willing to spend 50% over list price on them, so this is nothing more than chancing their arm. Id be surprised if they made more than 10%...
A lot of buyers will buy it as it's a nice car.
They won't care about the MK4.
They won't have a clue about FnF
They won't care about heritage and YouTube videos.
They just want a nice Toyota - and that's the mkt Toyota will sell the most cars to as they have the means to buy it.
As Toyota...
Toyota have been pretty poor communication wise over this, and my local dealer has not been in touch at all - so much for the dedicated expert.
Tempted to ask Toyota to change the dealer if I can to Stephen Eagell up in MK as bought a Yaris from them for my company and they were bloody...
Called Toyota, they said someone would call me back and I'm still waiting.
If I can't change colour to black, I'm happy to stick to the white, but I would like an idea on the financing as was the residual would be between 33-35k!
I've not had anything whatsoever from my local dealer!
Think I'll call Toyota tomorrow on the number we were given re the test drive day.
Was told we would also get details on finance deals shortly too.
When I spoke to the product manager he said he would be getting in touch with people as people wanted to swap colours etc. Also I believe we had 7 or 14 days post the test drive to cancel/approve the order.
Following on from last week's event, has anyone had anything further from Toyota?
I was under the impression they would be coming back to us to confirm orders, colour changes etc
I'm annoyed with Chris Harris' review of the car.
He states it's a very good car, but then goes on to berate it as being too bmw.
If it's a good car, then judge it as being so - being underpinned by BMW doesn't alter that.
I reckon demand for the car is going to go through the roof after Goodwood.
Going to confirm my spec before the event if I can, to secure the slot. Just hoping they let me swap to black now.
