i have admittedly taken this further than is constructive; but if even a few people ask more questions of their tuner before giving over their cash, then it is a win in my book.
theyre no busier than other people, honestly. But to your point, you are correct there is a degree of futility to a...
there are at least 2 popped motors on this forum and at least blown turbo, and Im not going out of my way to find them.
how did a “botched charge pipe” cause your turbo to fail?
Thicker oil is not a solution for improper clearances and tolerances. You can also create elevated pressure as you increase oil thickness and engine load.
there are times a thicker oil is beneficial, but that doesnt excuse the mnfg from gapping rings correctly.
Post upon post of blown turbos and blown motors; multiple vendors here stacking cheese writing your ecu files, and not a single one in here to discuss tuning.
the smart money people are noticing this.
vertical cylinderwall scoring is exactly one of the things resulting from bad piston ring gap i discussed in my video. Minor cases of gap result in oil consumption; bad cases include wall scoring as the piston chatters along the cyl wall.
@Rocksandblues can speak to more of the specifics...
massive detonation events will sometimes show as misfire events. Given that your motor was replaced, my guess is your “””””tuner”””” clocked out the knock sensors and you cracked a piston ringland as a result of engine knock.
@Rocksandblues did i miss anything?
@Rocksandblues does that track with what you’re finding from your time in the seat? Pistons and rings? Or does your experience driving it and making your monthly payments tell you different??
im probably going to regret wading into this, but.....
The wastegate plays a key role in the boost bypass logic of the b58. If the tuner doesnt get the wg open and the valvetronic load delay protocol correct as they increase wg duty, they can easily pressure spike the turbo on downshift. This...
i think so. Its generally either the bearing failing, the shaft bending, the shaft breaking or a combination.
so when that compressor gets forcibly stalled, there is still force against the turbine. The leverage of the larger blades on the compressor act like a leverage arm and the turbine in...
i wont disagree with that. my only complaint with awe is that while they sound AWESOME, they can sound too much. Its never raspy or drony or bad. Just too loud imo
nah. Not confusing it with anything. They all start to rattle. All of them.
you desperately need the new Z car to fail hahaha
very reminiscent of mkiv supra owners back in the 90’s talking about rx-7’s and 300zx’s.....although my personal favorite then was “well the skyline isnt sold here so...
Talked with a buddy who does some work for Dinan and a couple other tuners.
As of the time of this post- the lock on lower threshold functions from bosch was put on ONLY to BMW versions of the ecu, not any other company (ie audi’s), and at bmw’s request. BMW has indicated they have no plans to...
id recommend you run your stock tune when the new turbo goes in, and get the BOV installed, then go into revisions with him.
how you approach it with him is up to you, because tuners dont generally like hearing they blew up your car, but the facts are the facts. Its possible he did nothing...
if memory serves, and correct me if I am wrong, visconti got his start a while back on Subaru’s. I seem to recall him cranking out some pretty spicy files then. There are massive differences between a b58 and an ej series motor, and boost control is one of them.
i am purely speculating, but MY...
