CarQuest special babyyy. These are exactly what I just installed with my DTC pads lol. I bought two full sets as soon as the going out of business sale went live.
Yeah I mean when they’re cold, they feel like any normal set of brakes to me, but when they even start to get warm and squeaky, they stop the car better than anything I’ve ever used before. Even with light to moderate pedal pressure. I’m almost afraid to put my foot into the pedal more...
Eh. I’m not interested in getting rid of the wear sensors tbh. It’s a street car and the only reason I went this route is because I wanted better stopping power for canyon runs.
The DTCs to squeal and dust like a mofo so far, but I can live with that. My only complaint is the pads shifting on...
I’m honestly not too worried about it. My only complaint so far is the clunk of the pads shifting back and forth on the guide pins when backing the car up. Seems to only be my driver’s side that’s doing it so I wonder if I could try to re-seat it and get it to go away.
Yeah I was not expecting the clunk, but right away I figured that it was the pads shifting around on the guide pins. Just wanted to see if there’s any way to alleviate it or if I just gotta learn to live with it.
Okay, sooo… Just installed my DTC-60 front and DTC-30 rear pads, cleaned everything up, and went to break them in. One note is that they do now fit the wear sensors (I’ve seen it mentioned before that they did not). But I’m getting that god-awful slap sound when I change directions...
The bottom line is that you will not find one that works for more than a short period of time. Modern cars are too smart. You will either need to tune the car with a catless downpipe or get a high flow cat that doesn’t trigger a CEL.
Their dimensions are off and it’s putting pressure on the bracket in a way that shears it off. It’s been happening to M340i owners as well, even after they send replacement midpipes.
You guys have the M340i one on hand yet? I’m interested in picking this up. While not directly compatible with, it looks like I should be able to utilize it on my Pure900 with a third party 3.5 to 4 inch elbow.
The map version numbers are going to differ from car to car, as there are different hardware variations and each requires its own unique version of the map, even if it’s only tweaked slightly.
For those who have tried both the PMu CR and the Hawk DTC 60/30 combo, which did you prefer?
Which had the better initial bite, and which had the most consistent performance and pedal feel throughout the temperature ranges that they’re subjected to?
Shawn will do anything and everything he can to not cover his products after they’ve been shipped. Same with Tony Vargas. If you want a hybrid, go with Pure. Otherwise go full frame.
Didn’t need a second opinion. I do everything on my car except for tuning and after going over everything with a fine-tooth comb I was sure that there wasn’t any issues on my end. I gave Fabian plenty of time to sort it out and he still believed there was a mechanical issue.
I switched to Steve...
