Wonder how much of this “reverse engineering” is just marketing hype. I tend to take these marketing videos with a grain of salt.
The dual injection, intake tumble, integrated exhaust manifold aren’t new technologies.
Anyone know why Toyota calls this 4wd instead of AWD? 4wd tends to be used...
These GR Yaris videos keep popping up on my Youtube feed and it's getting pretty annoying lol.
Current Corolla hatchback curb weight is 3060 lbs. Assuming they put the GR Yaris drivetrain with dual LSDs, I can see it jumping to 3200 lbs. For comparison, the Civic Type R is 31xx lbs.
The...
I can't imagine it being a real GRMN if the asking price is only 30k. I think something was lost in translation or this isn't a true GRMN car.
I think it's also possible that Toyota offers this Corolla in automatic if they want to sell more, e.g., 86/BRZ.
If this is truly limited, dealers...
That's why I was confused about the rumor I linked to a few post back about Toyota calling this the Corolla Sport GRMN.
This slots between the previously mentioned cars in terms of price. Assuming this is actually 30k.
I think if Toyota is going to give the Corolla the "GRMN" badging, it should get the dual LSDs.
I think GRMN Corolla will slot in between the WRX and STI. It'll also sit slightly above the Veloster N but under the Civic Type R.
As mentioned by many people already, they can just take the...
Doesn’t look like there’s even a rumored estimated release date either. Before the pandemic, it seemed to be a 2021 model year, but now everything might be pushed back. I wonder if it’s more likely a 2022 model year, so mid/late 2021 calendar year release.
It looks like it’ll be called the Corolla Sport GRMN according to the latest rumors.

I wonder if this will be even more track focused than the GR Supra since the GRMN is above the GR name.
You mean a 1.6L turbo? That's what the GR Yaris has.
I'm also hoping the GR Corolla will receive the 'high spec' LSD package (front, center, rear diff). My expectation for this isn't very high because there's really no other competitor that offers that under 40k. The STI may be the only one...
Who thinks the GR Corolla will get the same GR Yaris powertrain package?
I"m skeptical and would be surprised if the US got more than the 1.6L turbo engine.
Can’t just slap in V35A engine just like that. That’s not how car manufacturing works. It takes a lot of capital to shift to a different engine only to sell a few thousand cars.
Don’t unsold cars just go to auctions? If they know they can get more at an auction, then there’s a limit on how much they’ll discount for the consumer.
Just came back from the auto show and the Supra hood latch was disabled. The hood release tab was replaced with some plastic stub. The doors were unlocked and people were free to sit inside the car.
Guessing Toyota didn't want to confuse people with all the BMW logos under the hood lol.
55k dedicated sports car is pretty affordable. This isn’t a souped Civic with a Type R badge where majority of the R&D costs were allocated to the base model.
Just look at the NSX sales to give you some perspective. They built a new factory just to build the NSX. How do you explain that to...
Cars are just another widget. The dealers finance the cars just like the buyers. The longer they sit for, the more interest they’re paying and the more willing they’ll negotiate with you on the price. In addition to kickback they receive from Toyota, that will also incentivize the dealer to work...
Guessing you're kidding but in case you're not...the buyer doesn't have ownership or say about anything on the car unless it's an option on the order sheet.

Article doesn't mention anything about the GR Yaris AWD system being used in the GR Corolla, which makes sense if it's competing with the GTI and Focus ST.
I have a feeling Toyota will disappoint the market...
