Other than the 2.0 being cheaper by probably about 8k, is there a reason to get the 2.0 Supra?
We know it probably won’t get a manual. It’s lighter, but so is a Miata. Unless I’m missing something, I just don’t see a big incentive to get the 2.0.
It'll be interesting to see the price of the 2.0L Supra. In Japan, the SZ-R is about 15% less than the RZ. Assuming the US spec would follow the similar price factor, that would make the US spec 2.0L Supra about 42-43k. That would still make it slightly more expensive than an STI and Civic Type...
This is exactly why Toyota needed BMW to help spread the cost of the vehicle.
Imagine Toyota developing the car entirely by themselves and seeing 2-3 Supras just sitting in dealer showroom floors. Actually that wouldn't happen, because that car would cost 100k+ and only 1/4 of the dealers...
Dealers in MN are selling at sticker or slightly below sticker. One dealer said they would sell for 1k below sticker without much effort.
The market is starting to see the hype dying for these cars. Won’t be surprised if they’ll be treated the same as a RAV4 or Camry in another 6 months. Seems...
Thanks for taking the time to answer some tuning questions. Have you considered making an FAQ in the first post?
I have a few questions...
1. Which tuning solution do you support? Bootmod3? MHD?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a piggyback vs changing the factory ecu tables...
Boost creep is a mechanical issue. Do you know how open the wastegate is during high RPMs? I'm curious to see if there are issues once the temps drop even more.
Can the fuel pump handle straight E85 or do you have to blend?
Will there be a flexfuel sensor in the future? Similar to a Cobb flexfuel sensor.
Any issues with boost creep if you remove the OEM cat?
Any restrictions for the OEM intake after you’ve reached xxx hp?
Using heavier engine oil will only increase the temps though. Also have to monitor oil pressure, which I don't believe you can read from a normal data logger.
Doesn't the car with the factory with an air to water heat exchanger? Like all track cars, it'll need a dedicated engine oil cooler if...
