  1. Toyota confirmed 3 sports car lineup: Toyota exec wants to bring back Celica, MR2

why? an even more cramped interior and even more niche than the 86 :what: The pre-facelifted FRS + BRZ outsold the first full year of the ND Miata in 2016 for the US market, 11,598 units vs 9,465. edit: i made a mistake and forgot to include 124 Spider sales which then makes the total 11,940...
  2. Toyota confirmed 3 sports car lineup: Toyota exec wants to bring back Celica, MR2

I only see the Supra, GT86 and potentially the high performance Yaris variant being the 3 sporty models. The SFR was a cool concept but it makes zero sense especially in the US market and there is absolutely no point in chasing after the Miata when the 86/BRZ have filled their own niche for the...
  3. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

your other 2 points were fair, though i think you can't disagree that the engine layout contributes to the way the 86 handles.
  4. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

...considering the fa20 is NA and is built for toyota (subie wouldnt dare put out anything problematic) it hasn't had reliability issues...consumer reports named it the 2nd most reliable vehicle sold in the US this year.
  5. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

    that too :catfight:
  6. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

doesn't make sense to me, so we get 2 different model names and 2 different brand names...lol..sounds quite silly especially after killing off scion. i have a hard time believing GR will become a separate brand especially here in the states but i guess here comes another era of explaining your...
  7. Interview Questions for Detroit from the Fans

while sharing powertrains was pretty much in the bag, i still wonder what this means regarding toyota's contribution to the engine as i have a hard time believing the z4 would use toyota tech under its hood...but i guess that would be less blasphemous than allowing this rebadged bmw smoke their...
  8. Toyota confirmed 3 sports car lineup: Toyota exec wants to bring back Celica, MR2

yes the jdm brands should blow money for the sake of it like the 90s again  toyota is in this economic position largely because they have been conservative with offering enthusiast models, they didn't need a bailout when the crap hit the fan...after the demise of the mk4 supra, they waited...
  9. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

I'm little confused as it sounds like only one prototype was shown...if there is indeed a lower spec model with different taillights, why did toyota choose to show that particular variant? (especially considering the more production looking or supposedly higher spec model has been running around)
  10. Toyota confirmed 3 sports car lineup: Toyota exec wants to bring back Celica, MR2

..think about it, they had to share costs for the supra with bmw...they aren't going to start funding yet another project when we don't even know when the supra will finalize and actually get a sale. and ya gotta be fair, concept cars which use the 86 platform like the recent gr hv, do showcase...
  11. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

well you did say your dad thought the taillights reminded him of the mk4's but the most recent mules suggest they will end up looking like the ft1's taillights. means either he is mistaken or there will be a lower trim with different lights (which I doubt)
  12. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

does your dad wear glasses by chance? lol don't really think the ft1 taillights look like mk4's...and the more recent mules seem to suggest they are going for the ft1 look. just goes to show..
  13. Toyota confirmed 3 sports car lineup: Toyota exec wants to bring back Celica, MR2

the end? on multiple occasions reps from toyota & subaru have discussed going for a 2nd generation..it may not be guaranteed but neither company has claimed they've given up on the platform not to mention it is very rare for toyota to only create 1 generation for any platform..with the amount...
  14. Interview Questions for Detroit from the Fans

..doubt the next gen 86 will gain much HP especially when the newest Civic Si still pushes 205 and the Miata is still in the 100s. If the Supra ends up being a lightweight my bet is the next 86 will become even lighter.
  15. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

this project has been one of many compromises
  16. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

along with the lack of backseats, that sort of confirms the early speculation that the wheelbase was going to be very short, even shorter than the GT86's....will be interesting to see how this affects driving dynamics
  17. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

while these specs are very promising I'll hold my breath...not sure even if 2800 is feasible for a car with a TT inline 6 setup as if I'm not mistaken that would make it the lightest production chassis to feature one...plus the GT86 which doesn't have any sound insulation, has a pretty much all...
  18. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

expected of course....well there are plenty of renderings with the LED headlights but how different are the front intake & grill?
  19. New Toyota Supra shown to EU dealers!

    toyota engine...?
  20. Crickets... give us some news Toyota!

1st world problem much? if they don't come out with the supra soon you'll go for a bmw? lol..yes that is really sticking it to them....and btw, fact is out of all the economy brands toyota has had by far the most extensive sports car offerings yet no one was buying them, only a handful of...
