meh, probably fake otherwise the weight is quite disappointing. Doesn't really weigh less than a manual C7, has a much shorter wheelbase than one and power to weight even with the supposed 385 HP 6 cyl is down by a good amount....and I just saw that it also says 0-100 km = 3.8 secs, not sure...
to some degree..both the HP itself and power to weight aren't the whole story. look at the 86, on paper it seems like an acceptable power to weight ratio but due to the way the power comes on, best seen with area under the curve on a dyno chart, for a lot of people it doesn't necessarily...
ty, typo on my part
naw, he is correct, LC and the newest LS are the only ones on a truly separate platform but I assume next gen Toyota Mark/Crown will be sharing it too. NX is indeed based on the RAV4, it is a FWD SUV not RWD..
I've driven cars with both the ZF 8 and Aisin 8 trans both are great, nothing is wrong is auto, and I'm not a manual nazi but nothing can ever replace a stick..don't care how clunky or "outdated" it might be..
that's cool, but to say hell with the manual is sad to read  while personally it isn't a deal breaker if this turns out to be auto only, I'm still praying that we'll get a manual..
why go down this path? not sure how having less gears, especially in an autobox, in a performance car can be less of a risk? if we get only an automatic, the closer the ratio and more gears the better. considering your wishes on the 86's auto rev for a manual trans and acknowledging folks who...
well if we're converting from yen, the 86 starts at $22 k USD in japan :)
they aren't a sports car company, they only sell these things only for brand image so i don't think sales really matters for them lol. if you really care so much about rev matching on a manual trans for every single car...
elitist? lol...we don't need to dumb down things because some folks can't get it down right away, that is a very slippery slope that we are experiencing in the auto industry. there are other cars that fill what you are looking for, the 86 doesn't need to pander to the same crowd. i get it...
poor argument...they at least give people the choice of having a true analog experience. plus, heel and toe is not difficult at all, it is part of the normal repertoire of stick driving techniques...i suspect people who can't heel and toe are probably not the best manual drivers to begin...
this has been discussed in numerous threads...early rumors pointed out that it would be a ZF 8 speed, then our insider mentioned they were testing a manual but it sounded like it was not a priority for this project.
...my bet is the Supra will only come with the ZF 8 speed thus Toyota avoids...
to be fair, the infotainment, among other things with the platform, was made that way for easy swaps, but clearly that is not the point of the car....neither is having rev matching, the focus was to have it as analog as possible. i get it that isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it goes to show...
i still believe the 4 banger is coming, probably just in smaller markets like A70 suggested..we're just all spoiled in the states....bmw had enough consumers in europe & china that were happy about buying the current z4 with the 18i with 154 BHP!...195 HP base supra model doesn't sound...
indeed, i can admit it is really hard to draw the line...if we go with such a vague definition then hypothetically you could make the case for so many cars out there to be considered a GT.
