These are all gross vehicle weights, which are estimations of the car to include passengers and cargo. Whereas curb weights will be indicative of the car itself without the aforementioned. I do find it interesting though that the Nismo version weighs over 100lbs more than the standard MT 370z

It will be, it just won’t sell as much as the automatics will. Most of the people who complained about the Supra being auto only weren’t in the market of being able to own one… same thing will happen with the Z if it’s starting at 40K.

After researching it a bit more myself, you are correct. It does appear to be for security reasons and future self driving capabilities, at least in the case of BMW, Mini, and Chevrolet. I still foresee this being an issue on all cars since the future is pointing towards self-driving cars.

other than it’s not Toyotas call… it’s ECM manufacturers being pushed to lock by the EPA. This will be an issue across all cars, not some. If the only enjoyment you are getting out a car is based on whether it’s a manual car, are you really a car enthusiast? Or a manual enthusiast?
