Yes sir, it's all about image and matching what others are offering. I think it's also Toyota's strategy of trying to stay relevant with the upcoming Z.
Seriously, many have been asking for a MT since day one. No one has been screaming for a 4 banger version. Well maybe the 10 people on this whole forum that brought one. And one or two of them have sold it to upgrade to the 3.0.
And in this market some people are just getting what they can. If it were my money I would pick the base 3.0. It comes with enough goodies for me. I'm pretty basic, just give me A/C, power windows, and some kind of infotainment unit and I'm good lol.
Right, I get that. I have said plenty of times that BOTH the 3.0 and 2.0 are way cheaper than their BMW counterpart. The context of the pervious point was who the heck is going to buy a $48k 2.0 when you can get a base 3.0 for not much more. Yes, I do know some people aren't going to care and...
A lot of the comments I'm reading from the MK5 owner FB group says its overpriced. It starts at $43k but a lot of the ones on dealer lots have the tech package that brings it very close to base 3.0 territory.
So the G29 does better in Europe and the J29 does better in the U.S. What does this have to do with a possible GRMN model? I really don't know, I'm not in marketing or production development.
I'm not claiming to know anything regarding what goes on behind the doors with Toyota and BMW. All I'm saying is a Japanese publication with a good track record says it happening. Ok, so the bigger picture is world wide sales, which is probably closer to 50/50.
Idk where you heard that from but if it's true the GRMN won't happen until the very end according to Bestcarweb which has a really good track record when it comes to the J29. Maybe it has poor sales in the U.S., but the Z4 does very well in Europe.
