Tie rods are probably different lengths enough to cause an error, since you got it aligned with a wheel not installed correctly, the tie rods now make up the difference. Make sure you center the wheel on the steering shaft.
You can also strip the wires back and tie them together, shrink seal them and reset the light. Good to go. I did this on my car since I actually maintain my car and look over brake pad wear.
The not fully seating part is normal, the force it's taking to move it is not. Only time that thing is close to closed is normal cruise driving and at the very beginning of spool.
Motul 300V 5W-40 Competition would be crazy overkill for a street car. Motul 8100 X-Cess or Motul X-Clean FE.

I use 8100 X-Cess in my Supra track car and X-Clean in my street 330i.
Both are listed in BMW official recommended motor oil docs.
I don't see much difference between E40 and E50 so I use E40 for more headroom. I'm also higher compression ratio being a 2020 2 port Supra so if anything, I would benefit from more knock resistance. I found E40-45 to be the sweet spot.
