Because it "seems" easier on its face. Unbolt the old one, plug in the new one. 20-minute job. But, as always: the HPFP providers prey on the appearance of ease and are not especially forthcoming about other limitations lurking beyond.
I'm still surprised someone hasn't fabbed up swap brackets to support any one of the many cheap Brembo kits from GM cars. There are some extremely capable used setups for under $1k.
Corvette C7 is 6-pot front, 4-pot rear, monoblock and you can get a full set shipped for $1100 on eBay. One of...
BM3 does not support the Reflex in ECU integration mode, because Motiv consists of former BM3 employees and there's (allegedly) bad blood. Bootmod is working on their own Reflex equivalent.
Best to switch to Ecutek for your Reflex.
Akrapovic is absolutely not worth it. They use the same materials as everyone else and throw an absurd markup on top for the name. They do not do anything special, differently, or better than any other option. If you want a great catless downpipe with grt build quality and perfect fitment...
Yes, you will be fine with stock gap. There's a lot of bro science surrounding spark gap, but almost any street car will run just fine at 0.025 to 0.032.
There's no reason to deviate from the OEM spark gap at your power level. You're not that far from stock. Stock plug and gap is perfectly fine. NGK 96206 is the appropriate part number for the Supra.
Unless your plugs are fouled or you're over 60K miles, there's also no reason to change the plugs.
Always cracks me up that the stuffed turbo, the budget option on every other platform I've played with, somehow got elevated to a premium position in the minds of the Supra crowd. On every other car I've had, you buy a stuffed turbo when you can't afford anything else lol. It's great marketing...
Just to confirm what some others have said in this thread:
Using Bootmod3 to set the exhaust flap to "OPEN" in Sport mode does override your burble profile. And by profile, I mean:
1. If you turn burble OFF, you'll still get burble.
2. If you like the factory burble, it will decrease in...
They're a significant step up in grip at roughly the same tread wear. In the 300s. I'm in the mid-500s WHP and I don't wheel slip anymore on Conti ECS. I can't speak for PS4S, but I understand they're a similar tire.
There are some nice videos on YouTube of the Conti ECS comfortably handling...
The seal is alright, but all these intakes are so-so IAT because they're trapped in the engine bay. All the marketing about boxes/carbon/inlets in the world can't defeat being trapped in a hot metal box.
