A manual on both the 2.0 and 3.0 are the most important things needed at this point. It’s not a rational or practical car to begin with, the people interested in a Supra want this option and there are only five model years left within which to offer manual transmissions in the Supra. It’ll...
I just meant that I hope the level of security lockdown seen with the Supra MKV ECUs isn’t something Toyota also plans to implement with their own in-house ECUs.

Very cool news for Mazda RX-7 owners! Put this up there with Mazda's own 1st gen Miata factory reproduction parts and restoration program, Nissan's reproduction factory parts program for the Skyline R32, R33...
This makes sense. It also goes along with a buildup to the Japanese government’s 2030 electrification mandate announced a few days ago.
The Corolla already does or will have a Prius-like hybrid option so that will be in addition to the GR/GRMN Corolla.
Since the GR86 hasn’t even gone on sale...
Tetsuta Tada said many times he didn’t want a hybrid Supra MKV. My guess is that in the year 2025, for model year 2026 they will allow the Supra lineup to finish out hybrid-less.
I do believe A70 backed this up, saying “legacy” models would finish out their model runs through actual year 2025...
I've been reading this thread with interest in hopes this security barrier will eventually be unlocked yet I keep seeing videos of 600-800whp Supra MKV's in addition to the famous Papidakis 1,000hp MKV.
Apart from the Papidakis MKV are all of the other highly tuned examples pre-locked-ECU...
It wouldn’t surprise me if a partial intercooler water spray system and even partial anti-lag plumbing are on some model trim of this vehicle even if only on the Circuit Pack versions or perhaps only on a GRMN edition.
That is what was done on all the WRC package ST185 and ST205 Celica GT-Fours.
^^ Okay, so as of this last video review and based on what CarGuy11 has stated, the U.S. market 2.0L (and one would hope all market Supra 2.0's) actually does come with a regular mechanical LSD and not an open diff. If true... good! That alone is major.
I still kind of want to see a tuning...
If North America gets even that many GRMN’s it will go a LONG way even for those who cannot afford it themselves. It would mean there is a smog-friendly U.S. Supra S58 configuration that people can at least try to recreate with a lot of creative BMW and Toyota parts bin rummaging.
If we do not...
To each their own. It’s totally understandable but there are still those of us who prefer a manual over an automatic in a two seater sportscar that cannot take the place of a more practical daily driver.
Fast shifting still isn’t the same as the human doing the shifting.
However now we do...
^^ Replace the factory stock exhaust system. Problem solved. The exhaust note is getting subdued in many brand new performance vehicles especially within the EU and other countries. It's not limited to the Z4 and Supra.
It's a 6-speed manual Z4 and that's already far more interesting to me than...
Sorry I did mean to say the new S58 design, not the older S55. And yes the GRMN that would have it would undoubtedly be $100k or so before dealer markup.
It won't be quite as fast as the ZF8 8HP automatic 2.0L models but it still won't be a "slow" sportscar with a 6-speed manual transmission...
I'm not sure if this video has been posted here before but it's the first that I have seen it. Just a taste of the 6-speed manual 2.0L spec that BMW Z4 buyers have available in Europe and what I still hope comes over to the Supra MKV.
Note that in this trim the Z4 2.0L keeps the larger brakes...
His videos are increasingly clickbait. The information therein is usually a mix of some correct facts and just as many if not more incorrect statements. When he used to focus on auto repair topics drawing from his professional experience he was still hard to watch but still somewhat helpful...
It sounds fantastic and very special! Congratulations on getting yours in the queue!
The GR Corolla for North America had better have *every single piece of hardware* the GR Yaris comes with standard and optional with the only penalty being a bit more weight, a longer wheelbase and two more...
