  1. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

A70 has stated that this will be a thing: a Corolla (hatch?) with the GR-Four's 1.5L inline-three, 6-speed manual transmission and a version of the AWD system that will be adapted to the Corolla's chassis. I am not expecting any more horsepower (I wish but I doubt they'll change it from the JDM...
  2. Toyota Presents World Debut of the New 2022 GR 86

That's quite sad to learn. I hope the same won't be true for the GR86 version. Guessing here, maybe this has to do with Subaru's fleet emissions in the EU as a small automaker whereas Toyota is a huge automaker and thus does not have to make the same shrewd decision? Also, it would be...
  3. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

This barely coy review makes me excited. I really wish the GR Yaris with the dual Torsen track package were due to be sold in the U.S. The GR Corolla will be acceptable but it is significantly larger and has four side doors. If only we had a chance of lowering the 25 year import exemption...
  4. Toyota Reveals SEMA Build GR Supra Sport Top

The targa top SEMA concept is great and I'm sure they can do it since the shared platform also supports a convertible sibling BMW. Some buyers will absolutely love that if Toyota actually does it. Personally though I prefer fixed roof full hardtop coupes and the current car already has this...
  5. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

The interior looks just right to me. Like a proper driver car’s interior. They just need to give it an instrument cluster that is somewhat more physical than that display screen.
  6. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

whether it’s a hot hatch or warm hatch I still love it and I’ll happily take an identical driveline in a Corolla hatchback. Though I’d prefer a GR Yaris.
  7. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

This video does an initial comparison with the GR Yaris RZ GR-Four (1.6L turbo, 6MT, AWD, LSDs, big brake calipers) with the GR Yaris RS (1.5L NA, CVT, FWD, Open Diff, sliding brake calipers). I guess this RS version is produced to spread out the cost of the unique chassis further, gain...
  8. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

It's impressive and cool to see an anti-lag system on one of these so soon! Though laws aside I think the larger concern for budget-minded enthusiasts is that anti-lag is very hard on turbos and engines. It's more affordable for a dedicated racecar that sees limited use or with a race team...
  9. Updated GR Yaris with Automatic debuts at Tokyo Auto Salon

Waiting 25 years to import a GR Yaris is not fun but so long as the ENTIRE drivertrain including the dual Torsen LSD “circuit pack” makes it into a GR Corolla for the U.S. and Canada that’ll be fine. and a GRMN Corolla variant for North America would be great as well.
  10. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

Or maybe it will be offered with more power. And they might include an LSD with it, finally. Didn’t A70 mention some while back that Tada-san had a 280hp four cylinder in his MKV flow chart?
  11. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

Sadly I agree. They probably won’t collaborate on any sports car. It’s a sad thing since it will be much harder to produce a car like the Silvia at an acceptable price point in a few years. I do see Toyota continuing to collaborate with Subaru and possibly with Mazda. Toyota and Honda seemed...

  13. All-new 2023 Nissan Z makes world debut!

I could see this as being a thing as well. Nissan needs a new 2+2 RWD Silvia coupe. Or... if Mitsubishi weren’t in such terrible shape they should jointly develop with Nissan a new Starion alongside a new RWD 2+2 Silvia.
  14. Would it be crazy to think??(⚡️)

This is the last generation of pure gasoline-only cars in general, absolutely. But there is still another generation ahead at least that will be nearly all hybrid gas-electric before everything is fully electric on a mass scale. The A100 generation Supra is more than likely to be a...
  15. Would it be crazy to think??(⚡️)

Before a Supra 100% EV Toyota will make an A100 Supra as a gasoline-electric hybrid first with an emphasis on extra boost from the electric motor(s). It will still have an engine. Hopefully a turbo engine. They will have to do this past 2026 anyway. But in the future...? Yes. I think a...
  16. Is Toyota working on a new MR-2?

For a RWD small S2000 roadster successor? Or perhaps something to reinvigorate the NSX?
  17. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

It could be done, yes ; ) But I agree that isn’t going to happen. If Subaru/STI *did* allow/make a RWD version of that 6-speed though... look out!
  18. 👣 Official: Toyota Announces Manual Transmission Supra!

They have made TSS 2.0 work with the Corolla M/T and 86 M/T, yes. And the GR Yaris and soon the GR Corolla. Seems they can do the same with BMW’s hardware and safety suite. I’m with you 100% on just using a strong manual transmission even if it’s not a “refined” experience. I’d consider a...
  19. A91 & Recent 2021 Impossible to Tune / ECU manufactured after 2020/6 is locked? [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

All of this makes me curious as to how much aftermarket ECU's from AEM, ProEFI, Vipec, etc. will catch on with these cars. Flash tunes with modern cars have been fantastic in recent years but ECU security lockouts are obviously becoming a huge issue for the tuner world and owners interested in...
