Lando is 49 points ahead of Max after Brazil. In the last 3 weekends (including a sprint race) if max wins all 3 & the sprint, and Lando finishes 5th in all of them, they will be tied on points at the end of the season and Max would win the tie breaker with 8 wins over the season to Lando's 7...
Yup. A guy I did auto-X with got a Tesla. He won his class AS at the SCCA Nationals and then got rid of it. He said it was the most boring car he ever drove!
I happen to be a fan of English style dragons and my wife has taken to calling our Supra 'The Dragon'. So when I saw this door mat which fits in the trunk perfectly, I couldn't resist. BTW, the other photo is me at Daytona last month.
I'm still hoping for a the new Celica to be 4 cylinder turbo making close to 400hp (we all know it will be closer to 300hp) and all wheel drive with a fair amount of luxury accessories.
I race SCCA for over 20 years, that's not quite true. Once you own all the hardware (tow rig, trailer, tools, safety gear, etc) it's only a little more expensive. Unless you intend to win.
I'll be out there on Nov 11th for an SCCA Track Night in America event. I've driven Sebring a couple of times in an NC Miata with an aftermarket turbo and a 'built' 2.5 liter ford motor. It should be fun in the Supra, but lap times aren't part of my quest. LOL!
I had a Toyota 86 for a few years. It was a very nice car. But I want something a bit hotter to drive. This 2025 Supra has just wet my appetite for more power. Now I want that power in a mid-engine car... and not a Corvette.
I finally got some photos back from my track day at Daytona. What an exhilarating day! I raced wheel to wheel for 20+ years in the SCCA and this was the most adrenaline pumping experience I think I've ever had.
I've been to Road Atlanta quite a few times, but always as a photographer. I have to admit that I liked the old layout better, but the new one is still OK. I'm sure it would be my favorite of the 3 big tracks near us.
My favorite track of the almost 20 I've been on is Barber followed by Road...
Personally, I think it was more about the track and how well the cars are suited to it, than nerves on the part of Lando and Oscar. The Red Bull was so well attuned to the track that even Yuki was fast. This wasn't a McLaren track and both Lando and Oscar failed during the red flag fest they...
It was nice chatting with you as well. I'm already scheduled to be there. I've done Sebring a couple of times in a 2008 Miata with an after market turbo. Sebring is fun, but too flat for me to really love. I bit too bumpy as well. Road Atlanta, VIR and Watkins Glen are on my list for next spring...
I was prettyr slow on the banking the first time out and the session was cut short with a long full course yellow and black flag all. The second session I was a bit more comfortable and was doing 120mph, not nearly flat. The third session I was doing 130+ on the banking. I wasn't flat out, but I...
I would have loved to have been in the Toyota Supra shot with my black one! But even seeing the back end of my car is kind of cool. Thanks for posting it. I can't wait to see the shots from the professional photographers. And driving Daytona at speed was just thrilling!
It ran so long that even though I had the DVR set to record 30 minutes after the scheduled time, I missed the last 5 minutes of Q3 and the 6th red flag! With the better competitors mired back in the field, I suspect Max will get a huge lead in just the first handful of laps while George, Lando...
After 20+ years of racing SCCA and 5+ years of auto-x and a handful of track days, I finally picked an item off my Bucket List. I did a track day at Daytona. It's the first time I've been a bit nervous before going out on track in a long, long time. My goal was to see at least 150mph. Here's how...
