Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep you advised, but its too soon. I've been a pro photographer at VIR. I'm looking to go in the spring. This November is Sebring... hopefully with a friend.
Oh, I hear ya! I started in 1980 racing a Fiat X1/9 in SCCA Showroom Stock C. Great fun and inexpensive. Then I got what was called a Sport Renault (now a Spec Racer Ford) and found out I was a pretty good driver, but only about 10th to 15th in a field of 40 to 50 cars.
Then I went back to...
Well, after doing my track day a Barber, I've decided I want to do a bit more. I've races wheel to wheel for 20+ years on a lot of tracks in the Midwest, but now I want to hit a few down south that have been kind of a Bucket List thing for me. I'm not looking to modify my car much, if at all. I...
I'm with you. I didn't see Max do anything amazing other than pass a couple of mid-fielders. YeeHaw!
Oscar was sure to get a call from the pit lane after almost running into Lando. He really wasn't close enough to make that kind of a 'dive bomb' move.
I love seeing some good wheel to wheel...
You Max lovers are so full of it. I think most fans find Max actually quite boring to watch. Never any passing battles back when he ran away with races. Yes it was the same with Lewis & Sebastian & Michael! I find Lando and Oscar fighting for the driver championship WAY more exciting.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like nothing better than to see Cadillac do really well and be fighting for podiums by season 5... but I seriously doubt it.
You are right, that with the huge investment they will be making, they probably will stick around for some years... unless an acceptable buyer...
The steering wheel cove is nice. Where or how did you get the bottom loop of the wheel gloss black and the Supra/carbon fiber inset? I want that for my car!
I see absolutely no way Cadillac will even run with the rest of the mid-fielders. The first year they will be lucky to score any points at all. They will be using Ferrari power and even Ferrari struggles near the front and Hass is doing well to run in the mid-field. Cadillac will suck for at...
I assume you had a safe drive home as well? Have you ever driven the Tail of the Dragon?
If you auto-X and have never bumped your wipers on, you haven't been doing auto-X for very long. It happens to everybody!
I did my track day at Barber and had a great time. The last time I was there in 2022, it was in a 2021 Miata Club. That was fun and very much a momentum drive. The Supra was very different to me. Much better acceleration (duh) and therefore needs a lot more brakes (duh). But none of the cars I...
You didn't jinx Max. He did it all by himself. He wanted a car with low down force and that over steered (pointy) and that's what Red Bull gave him. He could have done very well in the dry while keeping a calm demeanor. But it got really wet and he had a bout with the Red Mist after getting...
For me, it was a fun race to watch. I love races when wet weather gets involved. Yes, Oscar did a stupid thing by slowing down so abruptly. And the 10 seconds was fair. But Max showed some Red Mist by spinning off right after he got pissed off at Oscar for the hard braking at the end of the pace...
That was an incredible lap by Max. I wonder if he would set the car up with a bit of push and by driving around it would do less damage to the rear tires and be more competitive with the McLarens? I'm wondering if the reason nobody else can drive a Red Bull is because it's so pointy that you...
I agree completely. Watching the big cars slide around is great fun. And they do slide more than sports cars or formula cars, which makes them fun to watch on any kind of road course.
I think there is very little chance that Max moves to Mercedes for next season. Maybe in 2027, but not 2026. And if he did, I think George would move to Aston Martin or Williams, both teams moving up in performance... especially Aston Martin.
And who is going to drive for Cadillac in 2026? I...
I used a cup holder filler I found online and then had my wife use some red and black dragon print material to sew up a cover (I happen to have a thing for dragons). She made it 2 layers and put a thin foam pad inside. It works perfect of cover that section of the console.
I've raced in the rain before. One time, with my E Prod '87 MR2, I was on slicks! Now that was really fun... right up to the point were I was leading and slid just off track at MidOhio and got stuck because it was up hill in wet grass and I had zero traction!
