This is true, however, like the GTR example....if Toyota put an in-house V6TT under the hood and actually had Yamaha's involvement in the development of the motor, I think it would be much more accepted than a run-of-the-mill Bavarian motor, no? It would give the MKV some uniqueness to it, and...
Same here....when I mentioned it wayyy back, the forum gave me a big virtual middle finger. It seems that a <3000lb car, with a 450HP Yamaha tuned motor, and potentially limited run manual transmission option is more realistic. o_O
Nissan did this with the GTR, and their fanbase didn't have...
cough:cough....begging for an M motor? Who’s begging for an M motor? All I was saying is that it’s not happening, and that if it did....god help us all as in you wouldn’t hear the end of it from “M” enthusiasts. Personally, I think “M” motors are crap (I’ve actually worked on them). The...
Bespoke probably in terms of "theme" rather than complete interior re-architecture. Look at my previous posts about the dash texture, it is a heavy textured material versus the BMW's smooth leather wrap. Maybe some exterior color matching panels (i.e., new Wrangler). I think these subtle...
I will say though, as much as I don't like BMW....I will give credit to their designers. The M3 (2020) rendering looks gorgeous! Actually looks like a Lexus IS from the back a bit.
S58 as in M3/M4 motor??? Not a chance! BMW is VERY cautious of their cocky rich "M" customers and avoids too much "contamination" in their lineup with other cars. Toyota tells the world, "the new Supra will have a BMW engine" and people whine and bitch. BMW tells the world, "the new M3/M4...
All the important things in a car, the things people look for when buying a sports car are unfortunately dictated by BMW on this project. Not sure what Toyota can offer differently to set the MKV apart from the Z4 to make it attractive to sports car buyers in the ~$55k range. I am sure a...
I agree, that's why I still have a feeling Toyota is up to something with this car. Maybe other folks are right, they could just be presenting a demo car for the sole purpose of showing off it's suspension, rigidity, etc... However, those cars look pretty complete....even the interiors. I...
I just chuckled out loud in the office at this....haha...sorry.
I honestly just skip through the name calling posts now. Other than that, these are legit points being posted from both sides of the pond...no?
JDMuscle, I think Toyota's "fail" on this project was the use of the Supra nameplate to be honest. Had this car been called something else, it would be welcomed with open arms even if it had a Yugo motor in it. The problem that we enthusiasts see is that the Supra nameplate means a whole lot...
Oh come on Guff, it's been pretty good discussion. At least no one has been offending anyone else....right? The second someone does, I say push the ban button!! It's been good discussion so far...
Guys....these are good discussions.
I don’t want to start a flame war, but this was the German “my way or the highway” mentality that I was telling everyone wayyy back. No on believed me. Did anyone actually believe that BMW was going to have the “less performing” car to a Toyota??? For...
Toyota has to do better than this....they MUST do better than this.
I am betting the folks who have money to buy a $55-$65k car, will not be buying this as is (information reported by the journalists who drove them). The folks who are in love with this car as is, don't have the money to buy...
Pull-up/push-down lock knob.
Not even my 1991 Nissan 300ZX has this god-awful feature to it. I only ever see this on cheap cars nowadays (Challengers, Mini's, etc...). Really gives the car a low-quality aura.
Same here...huge fan of digital gauges.
I worked on a buddies SC300 a while back where we integrated a S2000 gauge cluster in a spare SC300 bezel. Came out pretty amazing, and I since have been looking at options for my 2JZX build.
