Made the correction...
The Tremec is another good example....although it is not as refined as most ZF's, it is a very strong transmission. You know you are shifting a Tremec coming from any other car.
I assume you mean the Getrag V160?? If so, there are a number of manual transmissions (factory oem, not modified) that can handle the same if not more power than a V160.
We all love the MKIV's no doubt....however, I think alot of the gear the MKIV had may be "glorified" because of the internet...
Yeah, no one will ever convince me the driving pleasure of an automatic is greater or better than that of a manual....no one. I have come to accept DCT’s and modern auto’s....heck even my favorite super car (GTR) is a DCT. However, I know that for the hardcore enthusiasts, a manual is key in...
That’s what I mean, the guys who will heavily mod their car don’t need to worry about how quickly to shift....their power output will pull their cars away quickly in any gear. Stock for stock, the human factor (shift time) is key and a computer will almost always shift faster....but, for the...
It’s not about how fast the auto shifts compared to a manual....its about the driving pleasure and (for guys like myself who tinker with their cars) the longevity and load capabilities when modified. Unless going DCT, a true automatic transmission generally doesn’t have the load capacity that a...
The ZF S6-53 is a 6-speed manual transmission that is rated to handle up to 391 lbf/ft of torque. This transmission has proven itself to be a VERY reliable and strong manual transmission. The ZF S6-53 transmission is used in many modern (heavy and torquey) BMW's (e9x, f13, e64, etc). This...
How does one manually (not electronically) unlock a flush mounted knob like that? I believe those higher end cars are electronically controlled unlocking only no? I don’t think the MKV Supra will have that type of locking mechanism (based on what we see so far)....that’s why I’m saying I don’t...
I can't see where else a logo would go to be honest. With all the curves and bulges in the back, it's hard to place a logo anywhere but the middle.
I don't mind the logo placement as much as the logo itself....if I were to ever get this car, first thing I would do is remove that logo and slap...
The GTR was created for one reason and one reason only.....to be Japan's supercar. They built the car around the hardware....it is purely function over form. Some people think it's the most hideous car, and some love it....however, Nissan's goal wasn't to make a beauty queen, their goal was to...
I don't think any of the "cylindrical type" knobs go flush on any car that has it...if it did, how would one unlock it manually?? Correct me if im wrong, or show me an example.
Again, I know the GTR and a few other cars have a rectangular type knob that when locked, and the top get's...
Yea, I should have been more specific....I meant the style of the lock/unlock knob. The GTR’s is flush with the door panel, not a tampon style knob sticking out from the panel. I agree though, to each his own.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Sorry to sound like such a skeptic, but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard something promising from Toyota about the MKV only to be disappointed by a follow-up review.
We shall wait and see...
Yep. Toyota is a conservative type company...they are the old farts that watch their 401k prices rise slowly and steadily. Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc... are risk takers. They are the young whippersnappers that watch their 401k prices rise and fall 50% daily. Truth be told, the exciting...
JDMuscle, remember a time when Toyota made badass cars because they could and didn't care about sales (like Lexus did with the LFA)??? Good time indeed:
Interesting thing I found out from a Supra owner not long ago....the MKIV's pre-production cars used for magazine reviews back in the day...
Precisely....Nissan knew that they had to go big with the GTR to even spark peoples interest, let alone get them to sell. It was a "go big or go home" move, and people (like myself) who sit for months thinking "should I buy it" have a much less difficult time pulling the trigger on a $100k...
The MKV will probably be on the higher-end of the price spectrum for it's class....as a base model. In other words, say a top trim Nismo Z is $45k in the US, the base MKV will be starting at $45k. I don't even want to know what the top trim is going to cost to be honest....anything more than...
