GR is very secretive on projects, but I have gained more access to this by working on two cars they are technically co-developing with us.
That said, from what I do know, the one car I have been told about is very cool on paper, but I have no idea what it will cost and when it will be released.
a lot of good questions, but for now I'm going to leave it at that until I hear more.
the price comment was in regards to the 4cyl. he mentioned some details on that car, and then said but it will be interesting as you can get an 86 for $20k less with great handling and visceral feel too.
(as...
I don't think so, I think it is only the iron block I6. I haven't heard of that expertise being applied anywhere else.
----------------------------------------------
I found out some specific new things about the 4cyl, but it was my eyes only unfortunately. Still no word on if US is getting it...
Kinda what I was thinking as well, but at least I was able to get that much
I do my best, but yeah I'm not using any more US sources aside from engineering, aside from investigative purposes of my own.
I fell into a trap of not getting enough from engineering and instead started to post what...
might not be the final engine cover, which wouldn't surprise me as that thing is uh... well, anyways.
I feel like the aesthetics comment might have been in regards to that more than anything but i didn't ask for any more.
Finally heard back a few mins ago when I was away from a computer, but the engine in the Goodwood car is indeed the iron block engine refined by Toyota and ex-Yamaha powertrain engineers.
It was also stressed that trims and aesthetics are not yet finalized.
And there was something else, but...
Well, that seems fairly definitive. It would be hilarious if that is indeed the iron block motor lol.
I mean the junior engineer I spoke with before Goodwood told me the new engine would be in the car, but after seeing the engine bay pictures I immediately started doubting everything...
Yep, the GR concept hasn't made an appearance in the US for one of a few reasons, and that is one at the fore front.
I'd expect TRD or possibly just Toyota Supra. The executives have not budged an inch on that and even the interview just posted makes a slight mention of it.
Then again, Akio...
what are people on? let the GT305 go first? WHAT.
I'd drop that Z06 like a bad habit... it's BY FAR the least appealing car out of all of those lol
The GT350 is limited qty and that flat plane V8 is GLORIOUS.
I do however agree with keeping the Viper and Supra for all time.
As much as I'd like to always be right, that's definitely not always the case.
In reality, that motor could be the new motor in question. In fact, after studying those pictures further, there is enough that's different component wise to make the argument that it may be a new engine, but the...
Well, the iron block engine has been kept entirely under wraps aside from me and one other source, so it is possible that Tada is planning to shock the public with a different engine.
I just don't think that makes a ton of sense unless he really wants to create a massive PR stunt. I already...
Thats definitely the question.
I thought that by having the new iron block I6 that it would be present in all 6cyl versions, but that may not be the case.
When I asked about the motor from Goodwood, they wouldn't say anything besides wait a little longer.
I asked more about it today, and their response to some of the questions was "if we answer all of these, then where will we get entertainment."
My response: :bs:
Depends on what "afford" means here...
Do I have enough free flow cash to buy this on top of my other 4 vehicles? Realistically, no... especially not while maintaining 3 different living spaces in EU,US, and JP.
That said, I could dump my Q50 Red Sport, take a bit of a hit, and then pay the...
