I was thinking the same. That is if the 2.0 isn't cut from the line up before than.
Of course the potential is there. But as is, even one of our Mods who is a huge proponent of the 2.0 say as its current stands/price he would pass on it and just go straight to for the base 3.0
I have been a little hard on the 4 banger; mainly because Toyota dropped the ball on it big time. Give it a MT and the 300hp tune and Toyota would have probably sold much more than that 20% projection.
Don't worry too much. The production rate for the 4 banger is pretty low. I'll be surprised if Toyota reaches their targeted sales with that model. A bunch of people are already predicting it will be pulled from the U.S. after a year or two because of low interest and lackluster sales.
Attention all disgruntled 2020 Supra owners. Just make sure you have full coverage ;):p

Right, from day one I have said a 2.0 makes sense for markets such as Japan & EU with emissions, engine displacement tax, high gas prices, etc. But Idk how successful it will be in the US. Even Toyota USA has forecast only a 20% sales and production rate for the 2.0 model.
3.0 wins again :D
I know that Japan and EU gets that option, but it didn't make sense for the US. I'm assuming the 2.0 will start around at the low $40s in the States. If true, hypothetical speaking, after adding on all those goodies it could be pretty close to the base 3.0 price tag.
I was just trying to make a quick neutral wrap up, but if you want to cherry pick then the guy from TFL said the 2.0 motor and tranny don't pair too well together and he didn't feel the weight differences between the two and the 3.0 was more fun in his opinion. Regardless, none of this changes...
For those wanting to skip all the vids, they're pretty much saying the 2.0 is good for what it is, but everyone would rather spend the extra cash for the 3.0.
^From the vid above. I think if Toyota had made the wheelbase slightly longer people wouldn't be complaining so much about it being too watered down from the FT1. I also think a longer wheelbase would make the car appear a bit larger.
Just a quickie I did.
The 4 banger is getting pushed back. Might as well canned it all together ToyotaUSA :p

The ND Maita is reaching its half life span (4yrs). If a replacement is planned it usually starts taking shape around this time. I'm very curious to see if Toyota will go halfies on it with Mazda.
