Currently my Supra is my daily, but not my only car. I own a 2016 VW Tiguan 4- motion that my wife dailys and we share when it's snowing or flooding and I have to go into the office. I also own a 2007 Cayman that's slowly being built into a caged, pilow-balled, track-only "beater".
The Supra...
Looks like Phils is the way to go for Nankangs. I'm not sure if Tire Rack does price matching, but Discount Tire does.
Actually they're priced the same at both sites (295s too).
Hey Peter!
I found them by searching for 295-35R18 200tw tires, but it looks like they're not fully listed on their website yet. It does show them in-stock and available for delivery tomorrow though.
Weird...
Oh yeah! These are my next tires after the V730s, although I love these tires.
I'm really hoping for a 295-35R18 to become available in the US next year.
Oh man, I'm really glad you weighed in here @Evolution . This thread was starting to make me think I should stay away from Ohlins since my front suspension is essentially all SPL at this point.
I'll tell you this much, your stock brake pads and fluid aren't going to be very happy with 200tw tires on track. The additional friction from the tires will overwhelm your stock pads within a matter of few laps. Even completely stock on stock tires the factory pads aren't very happy on track...
Update: About half way through the season, I'm scheduled for 4 more events:
Thompson on 7/22
Car Control Clinic on 8/12
Lime Rock Afternoon session 8/12
ETA: Added Thompson on 8/20
Lime Rock on 9/11
I want to sign up for more, but then I think about how much I've spent on track time and...
I'm at about -3 degrees on my car that I track and DD, and I'm not really noticing any camber wear. The toe-in in the rear is causing accelerated wear.
I have SPL adjustable caster bushings, but I haven't seen the need to install them yet.
I'm definitely not drifting with this car. ? Just finding the limits on a skid pad. My obsession is going fast on tracks with lots of turns for a few hours.
