So I called up BMW dealership and tried to explain to the service lady how I needed to bring my Toyota to them to work on the BMW engine valve cover.
10 min later, after explaining to her and service manager, they said I needed to come by and let them “see” the engine to make sure they could...
If the car looks great don’t get paranoid and start checking paint thickness. You will always find something. It’s like looking on the internet when you sick, by the time your done you’ll think your sniffles is gall badder cancer or something.
Well don’t say it isn’t easy to break because it didn’t take much to do it. I just lifted a bit too high on a corner and “crack”. I bought a new VC, I’m just going to take it to the BMW dealership and have them do it. The “jb weld “ should hold till then at least.
Definitely no chance of not being fully sealed, I went liberally over the crack and overall surface beyond the crack. If I knew the glued piece of plastic would hold indefinitely, which it may, there would be no further reason to worry about it.
That being said, the worse thing that can happen...
My work schedule is such I don’t have time to wait on the dealership here to get their act together. They just don’t understand the car. I’d rather pay for the repair at the good BMW dealership we have than risk the Toyota.
That being said, I did try to fix it with epoxy, but I’m not sure why...
I didn’t want to start the car because if oil came out then I would never be able to clean it properly if I wanted to use a plastic adhesive.
I did watch an engine tear down on YT and it looks like it opens to the engine.
As for warranty, it was partially my fault I didn’t lift the cover up...
Try to do a simple oil change. Pull in off the engine cover and the back left boss broke on the what appears to be a cam cover!!
it’s barely holding on. Does this open up to the engine?!
what do I do now? Try to glue it? With what. Not sure this would be covered by warranty!
Damn; damn, damn!!
Use needle nose pliers to push pins in half way then tap the rest of the way. The pliers allow the pin to go in without bending. Worked for me like a charm.
Based on what I have experienced it appears the car is preemptively cutting traction after the rear wheels slip the first time. As if the car recognizes “oh, your rear wheel slipped! It must be slippery conditions, so let me pull power to make sure you don’t do that again.”
The issue only happens to me with traction’s on and after the TC engages this first time. Once I lose a bit of traction after the car is started I begin to have the issue. If I toggle the TC once the issue goes away. I have to restart the car to be able to drive with the TC on and not have the...
I have an 18x10 and 18x11 f/r set up with Conti Extreme Contact Sports, so not exactly apple to apple with 19” w PSS’s.
But the ride is a softer and a wee bit of steering response was lost, but that may have to do more with 18” size. Great wet and Dry grip.
