If you take it to a proper mechanic/tech or a repairer that has any engineering ability at all then you have any number of options for a good repair without dropping and replacing the pan. The 2 most common are Helicoil insert and a Timesert insert. These 2 options are often used in applications...
You're comparing apples to oranges. You can't expect a mass produced road car transmission that will reliable transmit around 650-700 ft/lbs of torque to one designed to transmit reliable less than half of that. Big torque capability means large heavy gears and large heavy gears are harder to...
No, stop listing to the echo chamber forums can sometimes generate. If you want a manual get one, it's fine. Forget the "sheeple" and the bandwagon riders. Some of the stuff here about manuals and the clutch for a std or near std output car is just plane disturbing.

I still can't believe people drive around with the window/s down anyway. That's what climate control is all about. Same as "moon roofs" Just another hole for water to leak into and added complexity. I've had cars with sun roofs/moon roofs and the only time they get used is to demonstrate how...
I think what he's done is bought the "solution" before the car on the strength of what he's read on this forum then found out it's something not worth worrying about.
Been there done that with other cars. The stuff then ends up in the "sell" threads unused after a while or on ebay. I never buy...
Just wait until you remove the clutch CDV and the car is instantly transformed from an old WW2 Willeys jeep crash gearbox to a click and snick marvel of gearbox and clutch technology. Funny how it's always the "easy" solutions that anyone can do in their driveway with almost no tools that seem...
Modern environmental paint strippers are pretty shite. Back in the day we used to use a stripper on commercial jets and the paint would literally come off in sheets. I've suffered the same issues myself and needed to resort to mechanical stripping. My advice is to remove the tyres and have the...
