I'm sure I could make room somewhere around here for one. Might have to get rid of a couple of my other cars... :drive:
Also @Chikane might get more than one. That dude goes through cars like crazy. Had multiple S2ks and BRZs, possibly at the same time oof. Need to get on that level.
But...
See that's the right question! And I have no idea what the answer is yet. That I am very patiently waiting to find out. Either way though, we have a "Zupra". No matter what the outcome is, both BMW and Toyota are equally responsible for it, good car(s) or bad.
Yeah, sadly I guess it comes with the territory since nowadays there's as much wiring as there is actual engine lol.
Wait, were we expecting the engine bay to not have BMW stamped on it? BMW is manufacturing it, of course it will have BMW stamped all across it. It will have a BMW style VIN, it...
Monterey Car week starts on the 18th. Pebble Beach CdE is on the 23rd. The BMW press conference is at 10:15am at "The Lodge" which is by the 18th hole of the Pebble Beach Golf Course.
I will be there, no doubt bringing the local property values down.
Oh yeah, in that case, we're gonna have to wait and see what fitment is like. I'm guessing the factory wheel is 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with the 255/275 setup. We do know it's 5x112 hubs, so Japanese wheel manufacturers will take a little bit of time to catch up with Supra-specific options. Otherwise...
All of your top 4 are fantastic quality wheels and none will steer you wrong. CCW has the advantage of having better fitment options for Supras, with their 18x10F 17x11.5R setup. BBS are fantastic but always hard to find in Supra fitment.
That being said, if it's the GTi you're planning on...
Indeed it did! That car was amazing because no matter how many times I went off on track, hit cones at autocross, or scraped on driveways it never looked any worse haha. I ended up totaling it, rebuilding it, and eventually selling it to my close friend who now also beats the hell out of it.
Can't forget the "Dont' mess with the Zupran" MK3 custom metal widebody build from Supraforums. I still have the photos saved, no idea if the thread is still there.
And just for fun, I've gone through some photos I have in my Camera roll of various Supras and 86s that I have owned over the years so you can make some comparisons for yourself. The last one is an EG Civic just for kicks, that thing had a B18 and a really big turbo, much faster than the Supra lol.
I think the reason the Supra looks as long as it does is because the greenhouse is smaller than that of most modern cars. This visually causes a proportional skew. For example, this is a picture from my driveway:
From this angle, the Supra looks bigger. But from the complementing angle with...
Yeah, proportionally it does have a small appearance for sure. Will be interesting to put it next to an MKIV whenever we get the chance. There are photos from Goodwood and some of testing in the UK, but not enough to get a good scale.
Perks of living in California! Nobody tests cars in Illinois I guess :p. And FWIW, BMW has already released the official dimensions of the Z4 when they had the mule test drive in France. Overall length is 170.1" and wheelbase is 97.2", which is 3.2" longer than the previous generation. The 86...
This might be a little controversial, but many years ago I drove a 1M, and after some time hammering it, the one thought in my mind was "This must be what a modern Supra would feel like..."
Of course, it wasn't "Supra" in various other ways, but the driving experience really was very...
I tried to pull up the shadows on some of these photos to get a little more in view, but there's not really enough resolution/color information to play with. I'll post these anyways though, lmk if you happen to catch anything.
Oh yeah, I guess I should have specified *modern* BMW motors. The older NA motors were nice looking, esp when you could see the ITBs/Runners and stuff.
Oh yeah, of that I have no doubt. An 86 with some decent tires will keep up with a Stock TT MKIV on many a circuit, just because of how...
Idk, it was in a public place and there were clearly various people looking in and around it. Maybe they only lifted the hood once perhaps.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the cover either. BMW motors are ugly though, all black plastic and wiring harnesses haphazardly strewn everywhere.
As @Chikane...
