I'm here for nitpicking! I can't speak for the 718s, but the 987 Boxster and Cayman did indeed have enough difference to notice. But in the end you're right, if they're related, they'll certainly be in the same ballpark.

I think the purpose of this type of testing is not only to test limit handling, but also to test traction control/stability control intervention. If the car has different modes then they need to fine tune the slip angle/wheel speed to trigger TC/VSC in each mode and how quickly the ramp rate is...
