That's the N series motor. Not to say the B58 is better, but BMW did design the B58 to be more robust than the N55, hence why they went closed deck, mechanical water pump, etc. That being said, it's still a BMW, and I've worked on enough BMWs in my life to know that the engineers love to cut...
This is true! Granted I was told a few months ago to expect the same bolt pattern as the M2, so I suppose that puts us in a grey area as I believe that is 5x120. Either way, it sucks!
FWIW, the GT86 has more interior cabin space than the MKIV (not counting the trunk), so I'm sure this will be relatively roomy as well. Majority of the length is likely in the front though. Those B58s have a lot of gizmos on them.
Yeah, every time there's a new car like this, people writhe and complain about how different the concept looks from the production car. That's just how it is. Concepts are designed to be caricatures of cars, serving to entice with aesthetic; without the burden of actual constraints like size...
If I'm honest, it looks a lot closer to the concept than I thought it would! The hood is still a little strange, but I think once the camo is off we'll get a better idea of how close the front end is. Seems like there are still some plastic cladding on the car though; either that or the panels...
The front DRL thingys will also be the turn signals! Not sure if I'm late to the game on that one lol.
EDIT: Also that vent/duct is definitely in the door, which makes me question it's functionality....
Went with a friend to see this car many years ago, almost bought it too. Mario Andretti's old personal car which was originally a pace car. Was a TT Auto. Really wish I had bought it, might be worth a pretty penny now.
