I think it's best to think of the GRMN as it's own spec or as an offshoot of the Spec-B.
The Spec-A is the bare bones car with the sliding calipers and altezza taillights and halogen headlights, but there is one of these that keeps getting spotted running hard on the ring and it's def a 6cyl...
Good points. From what I gather, the US will be getting the 340hp car first (the standard car), then the GRMN version (likely branded TRD here) later on.
And yes, it's the 340hp car that lapped the Z4 by ten secs lol
What I'm confused about now is how the Spec-A and Spec-B cars roll out...
I have more of the details on how it was done, the exact weight, as well as dimensions, but I can't give out that information.
It very much sits at under 2900 though, partly because the car is actually pretty damn small. Smaller than I thought it was.
I think that was a lot more about trying to save a brand that had nothing new and exciting, but yes it was dumb IMO. Not sure if he was solely responsible, but Jack was in charge of Scion and did try to do as much as he could for the youthful side of Toyota. Ultimately it just wasn't meant to be...
Jack is very much in the know as far as things marketing go, which is what the name falls under. He is much less in the loop as far as overall development as that is engineering. among other things, he is also one of the main people that will be deliberating/deciding on options and such for NA...
“The name decision will not be made until next year as well. There are some other candidates for some other reasons that are really pretty strong.”
Jack Hollis is the one that was interviewed and my source just said they havent decided yet, so I'd chalk it up to Akio being Akio
yeah, can you imagine what the GRMN car might be capable of... I heard it may actually be north of 385hp with a few CF body parts.
what if we see a ~2700lb car with 400hp? O___O
Even more information since today is a day of days...
The car weighs under 2900lbs and does indeed have 340hp in non GRMN guise. That's all you're getting out of me today lol. I'm amazed I even got that much honestly.
Oh, forgot to add, 4cyl option has not been dropped and is still being tested. Apparently if there is a hybrid version of the car (this is not being developed now but may in the future) they will use the 4cyl as the base, so if nothing else it's still being developed.
What I didn't like hearing...
so, after being fairly surprised/doubtful in regards to all of this and discussing it with Guff I finally got some confirmation on the ERM reveal from my internal sources... turns out the Supra was indeed shown, but it was a concept without the latest changes and most of the details as far as...
hmm, so it sounds like the base model will be the original 340hp 6cyl and the 385hp one is the GRMN (which isn't too suprising I suppose). I wonder if that means that they dropped the 4cyl, which would explain why the latest spec-A car sounded like it had a 6cyl in the spy videos...
now, the...
I asked one of the marketing/PR people and they said it's slotted to possibly replace the FJ Cruiser in order to compete in the offroad/adventure segment.
