Having been in the A90 GR prototype, it is reminiscent of 86 size. Slightly longer bonnet, smaller back - just on feel. It doesn't scream "tiny" compared to the A80 - but the proportions and lines are far less bulbous. It screams tiny compared to other cars on the road.
Inside, it feels small...
Similarly, the car that does 0-100kmh in 3.9s... That's with this engine I assume?
And it certainly sounds different compared to other B58, more than just exhaust too
Hmmm fair point. But rumours also said the goodwood car had the new engine right? Interesting. The inlet charge pipe us certainly morw reinforced than a usual B58, and there are definitely some differences but nothing ground breaking.
Oh hai guys here's the engine of the goodwood car.
Look closely at what we can see. Dbw throttle, accessories, piping, ancillary feeds.
Google latest B58.
Not cut and paste, that's for sure. Could be B58TU I suppose, but who knows yet.
I do see your point. I don't view it the same, but that's fine. :)
I guess I see it as a 'BMW sourced, Toyota-spec'ed" engine - based purely on what the forum insiders have told us. Having plenty of experience with BMW inline sixes - I am perfectly ok with this. I would have been more...
well, at this stage, it is apples/apples.
at this stage, we know that the Z4/A90 aren't twins
we have reason to believe that the engine in the Z4 is not going to be identical (in hardware or software) to that in the Z4.
if when more information comes to light, I am wrong, so be it. I will be...
I wonder if, somewhere out there, there's a McLaren F1 forum with everyone having a shitfit because it's a BMW engine :P
Or somewhere with the Audi R8/Lambo V10
Or Aston Martin/AMG
Not pointed at anyone in particular, but I find it's good perspective.
I did mention that event to all the aussie journos (I spoke to three, and they're all pretty incestuous), with the hope of getting an invite to a local one.
That said, being Australia, we won't have that until US and EU have had the car for two years :P
But fingers crossed, a wildly...
Overlay this curvy/creased bodywork on the A90 camo car, a touch of RSP, black/carbon everywhere, I'll take my A90 like that please. Don't skip on the GTX4088R and 295 width tyres all round.
Problem is, that ain't cheap, and Toyota have said they want it to be 'affordable'.
More and more manufacturers are moving away from individual options and to "options packages" (exclusive vehicles excepted)
SDR is a stunning colour. I wish I hadn't changed mine back in the day when younger and stupider.
I reckon it could look really cool - especially given all the complex lines and creases on the A90 mules will (imho) end up creating a car with similar visuals to the Toyota CH-R.
Yellow +...
Thanks guff, makes sense. No point reinventing the wheel for metallic black and white etc. But different colours is, in my opinion, a really important differentiator.
HKz - yes, I'm aware of the special colours - I guess my point could have been made better. In the paint booth, the car still...
Another question re: colours... maybe A70/Guff/lemetier could shed some insight?
Do we think that the A90 and Z4 will share colour options?
Given they're made in Austria - not Japan or Germany - and that other that bare skeleton, the body (well, everything that will be painted) will be almost...
