Good news is it's just an annoyance, not an actual mechanical problem. I had the same sounds on most of the cars I have tracked for decades with zero issues.
The shims won't stop this issue, this is from two possible things... The actual backing plate (the metal bit that the pad compound is stuck to) on the pad not fitting tight in the caliper so the whole pad can shift forward/backward when braking in reverse and then moving forward. Other possible...
If you are keeping it stock power, the cooling system does a great job. I have tracked in 95* and humid, staying out all sessions, all day long and have yet to notice any power loss.
Here is some footage of myself and another Supra owner, both running stock power, 2020 and his is a 2021. We...
I run the Cusco bar and the SPL LCA, but I also have the SPL endlinks. Either way, OEM endlink or SPL, the swaybay just BARELY touches the LCA at full lock. Since it's only at full lock, I'm not very worried about it.
"Happy to help" from the guy that didn't know what direct injection engines sound like. What a douche.
And, ignore set.
@32bitsofGil, good luck with your dealer visit!
If Gil didn't get that code, the fuel trims where within operating parameters and the car was able to hit its target AFR.
From your commenting and the lack of willingness to get into a technical discussion, I believe you pretend to know how things operate.
Happy to be proven wrong though.
love your snarky tone.
That code is from fuel trims too far out of range. In that instance, it was from too much ethanol (The dude filled up his tank on E85) and the fuel trims couldn't keep up to stay within AFR target. The supra runs closed loop WOT fueling, so fuel trims work in real time to...
Define "lean". The Supra runs 14.5 AFR at WOT most of the time. DI engine + emissions. Plenty of supra owners tracking their car with no tune and surprise, it runs 14.5 AFR most of the time WOT on track for 20+ mins.
It only slightly richens up to 13.8 at full throttle down straights 100mph+...
Front is the same width and offset as stock
Rear is the same width and only 4mm lower offset than stock.
Wheels will fit just fine. Don't go crazy on the tire width in the rear and you will be fine.
For reference, I ran a 18x10.5 +35 wheel with 295/30/18 tire and it fit just fine in the rear...
You would hate the VW crowd then. Putting a Golf R (IS38) turbo on a GTI or Golf (IS20 or IS12) is a "big turbo" to them.
I used to laugh in Precision every time I heard that.
