The arguments I hear from people pertain as to whether or not there's any damage to the turbine housing with the increased temperatures. There are claims that "warpage", for lack of better terminology, occurs resulting in oil loss and possible fire. All based on a discussion with a group of us...
Not a dumb question. You aren't keeping the heat IN the turbo, you're just trying to reduce radiant heat to other parts.
Now a turbo blanket is a different story. I've heard arguments for and against, in regards to motorsports applications.
This would throw me off. I would sit there, staring at the cluster, wondering if it's off or not lol
I suppose as long as it is not displayed, without a line through it, it's off.
Also, I will have to try the whole "starting in sport mode" thing again. Every time I code it on, car starts in...
I'm aware (edit: I made my own intake after seeing the price on that one ?). This thread is only meant for inquiring about the usefulness of the Verus heat shield.
Ah. I'm not worried about temps around town, etc. I posted in this part of the forum strictly for track day info. Seems that it technically helps, but only a couple degrees and only for a few laps.
I don't daily the car, luckily, so I get to ignore lots of stuff that costs money but doesn't...
Race ramps are worth their weight in gold, which isn't saying much because they weigh nearly nothing lol.
I built a couple of magnetic posts that I use while loading, so I know where the edges are. Not sure how you would do that on aluminum ? takes a lot of the stress out of it, though.
I have two of their jacks. Both about 10yrs old, I think. No complaints.
I also use their Earthquake impact. No complaints.
For anything that needs to be precise, I buy name brand.
Probably. I drive the living hell out of the 275s. On the bright side, I have perfect wear on all four corners. Normally, I'd be flipping tires around due to camber wear. Not driving on the street probably helps.
Yeah, I guess I imagine the combustion chamber being cooler when more...
I remember you telling me that before, but I forgot. I guess detonation isn't really an issue since it reduces power everywhere else. That does make me happy not to have to worry about going to the e85 station.
I was 0.6sec slower, But I attribute that to the tires. They were getting hot and I was sliding more. I probably would have lost even more time but I was getting better at my driving line. The car felt slightly down on power, but I think it was actually because I didn't have the tires pulling me...
One extra hot lap is all I need.
I am on the OEM downpipe, so yes. My catalytic converter makes crazy heat down there. All the more reason I'm thinking it probably heat soaks everything to the point where it's not doing a lot of good anyway. Particularly with the stock air box.
