Hola, I've been meaning to create this thread for a while but I got busy and my car is stored for winter because I live in the hellscape that is New England.
TL;DR:
Anyways, here is the overall video going over the kit, a brief install overview, why I decided to work with Ron to build this...
1. It's not his car, it's a shop car and for some reason they're wanting to keep a warranty
2. The cars cost more in Australia
3. A downpipe is easy to install and acquire
4. Andrew already built an auto MK5 years ago
5. This is just a different take for someone who wants to do something...
Yes, it's been installed for a few months now. YT vid is done, just finishing up some editing. Will have footage to show in the next week or so. Been slammed since I'm moving and I'm in MA and we get snow here so lol
Just picked up the car. Put about 30 miles on it in traffic but 1st - 2nd does not suck anymore.
I also deleted my CDV a while ago with the E90 direct replacement part.
I'll do a formal write up this weekend, car is going into winter storage after I shoot some vids on it.
The G29 is just kinda fugly and meh for me. The addition of a manual really doesn't do much for me personally.
If it was the shooting brake with a stick, I'm dumping the Supra ASAP Rocky.
I absolutely roasted Toyota on their survey for the Supra and my past GR86.
They have the worst sales distribution network I have ever been unfortunate enough to be in and I felt better afterwards lol.
They won't change. It's worked for this brand for decades and just like the MKIV, they do...
Without going into chassis mounted shifters, it will not be the same.
The issue with chassis mounted shifters and BMW's in particular, is that they create so much NVH/hold so much of it, that it starts to internally rattle the gearbox apart which is why it's only suggested for track cars...
I mean facts are facts.
If $600 bucks is astronomical, don't look at the cost for good coilovers, forged wheels, better brakes, actual aero that works, seats that actually hold you in place, a steering wheel that isn't from a base model 328, and most definitely don't look into adding power on...
