Yeah, the ZF8 so far seems to be pretty solid, at least if you don't push too much power through it. But for a stock or lightly modified car, it's all good.
If you think shift speed is the only factor that makes PDK superior to a torque converter automatic, then I guess there's nothing left to discuss.
And BTW, the ZF dual clutch is, well, a dual clutch transmission. It's not the traditional ZF8 or any varient of it.
No, I wasn't making that comparison at all. The comparison I was making was a torque converter automatic vs PDK. One is awesome, the other is simply okay.
PDK, sure. ZF8 though? Surely nobody thinks a ZF8 is the pinnacle of performance. It's a decent torque converter automatic, that's about it. I do enjoy the ZF8 in my Jeep, so I'm not being a hater...I"m just being realistic.
True, they are supposed to be temporary. I agree with that. But you know what? I'd bet that the vast majority of people who install plugs in their tires (or pay someone else to do it) use them as a permanent repair and never give it a second thought.
I'm pretty sure I have at least one plug in...
It absolutely does. This isn't even debatable. Think about pushing something, say, 1" in diamter against the tire tread and tell me that it would be even remotely possible to push any plug out of the tire. Think about it....
It's a silly way to gauge a tire plug.
As mentioned above, the ridiculous part is that you're never going to get that kind of pinpoint force directly on a tire plug. It's just not going to happen.
I've plugged many tires using both rope plugs and mushroom plugs and I've never had one fail ever. Unfortunately for me, my neighborhood...
It sure is.....so that being said, if you were to puncture your tire with a screw or other similar object, then fix it with a plug, and then run over another screw in the same exact place on the tire again and at the same exact angle, well, I guess that's possible. LOL
And if a screw can...
I remember watching that video a long time ago....the guy basically bashes the mushroom style plugs based upon the fact that he was able to push it into the tire using something resembling a narrow screwdriver. I don't remember exactly what he was using, but it was still the most stupid thing...
I mean.....that's going to happen with virtually any tire.
If you don't want to go the "plug & patch" direction, look into those mushroom tire plugs. They work great and I highly recommend them. I personally use the Stop and Go tire plug kit.
I would for sure take a Supra over any Cayman. But not because it's a better performing car or anything, but really because I'm not at all a fan of the Cayman and I think the price point is too close to the 911.
Wow.....do not like.
And I thought the front end/grill of the current 3- and 4-series cars was bad....this new M2 looks weird from the front and is an absolute disaster from the back.
Maybe a black one will hide everything and help wtih the looks. But I doubt it...
Um....no. Less than 1/2 a second at most. Maybe more for people who can't drive a manual transmission, but that's only because driving an automatic takes zero skill, unlike a manual transmission.
The ZF8 isn't anything special. It's not like a dual clutch. Hell, I have a ZF8 in my Jeep.
That's a lot of money for any Supra for sure, but the fact of the matter is that there will always be some people willing to pay dealer mark-ups (even ridiculous ones) for a car that they really want. And don't forget car collectors.....there are people who have already started storing manual...
