Yeah I agree with you - from the input I've received on this issue it seems there is nothing wrong with my car, I just need to adjust my skillset - working on it!
But yes I do think WRC drivers need to go back to unassisted manuals and until they do I won't really have much respect for them lol...
So one thing I find interesting.. is my shifter feels SUPER TIGHT and not vague at all. I would almost say minus the shifting into lockout zone issue I am having, this is one of the best manual transmissions I have ever felt. And I've driven a LOT of manuals from gated super cars to TR6060 LS...
It's just my principles - I never have and never will use assists such as traction control or rev matching. TBH I'm not sure how anyone could feel accomplished knowing they used technology/automation to help them win or set faster lap times - if anything I would feel kinda gay using assists...
So on the manual version of this car, to go into reverse you press hard to the left from neutral to get over the lockout and into the reverse zone, then move the shifter up. This is standard BMW affair, and was the same way on my E46 M3.
The problem I am having is on aggressive downshifts from...
Really just depends on your tolerance for NVH. For me, I want my Supra to have as little NVH as possible because as you can see in my "cars" section I own 3 other ratty, shaky, loud, shitbox cars ?
But yes the bushings definitely improved things!
I might just do this. However the more I read about engine dampers, it seems some people love em, and some people hate em... But I'm not above getting one on to find out myself if it's worth wile.
It's pretty straight forward. Jack the car up, remove the under panel. Remove the 4 bolts connecting the transmission bracket to the chassis, remove the two nuts holding the mounts onto the bracket. Remove bracket. Swap in the new mounts. Reinstall in reverse order.
Noise, Vibration, Harshness - something I am not looking to increase since my car is strictly a daily driver.
Here is a good explanation from google AI :)
Like new - had them installed for all of 3 miles before deciding we didn't like the NVH. Trying to keep my car as quiet as possible so my wife doesn't murder me. The NVH increase is only at idle and low rpms
Fits both manuals and automatics, all years.
These are a great way to reduce...
The engine damper itself is general use however the brackets you need to attach it to the engine/chassis are vehicle specific.... and unfortunately Weapon R doesn't produce a specific kit for the supra. I'll reach out to them to see if they would develop one? They would probably need a Supra to...
I've updated with my post with temperature data.
@razorlab any thoughts on my data? Curious what your results were when you did a similar test on your setup :)
Wanna post my experience with the yellow power flex trans mounts. I installed them yesterday, drove it around town, and the NVH at idle and low rpm driving was quite noticeable - including adding a vibration to the steering wheel. While this might not bug people, it certainly bugged me because...
