I think part of why it's been lackluster has been the lack of passing. Only Bahrain had some movement. Australia was bad weather, so overtaking was tough, China just killed tires trying to use them, and Suzuka is too narrow for these cars to pass.
I think it's time for McLaren to admit Oscar is the driver to back as the #1; he seems to have found that consistency finally.
Also, George Russell taking that malfunctioning Mercedes to 2nd place. If he can keep up his consistency and McLaren keep throwing away points, he might get into WDC...
Yeah, as I get more seat time, I'm eventually going to need the additional data from CAN; almost everyone who is tracking that much jumps to the AIM solo or some other solution.
But for now, the selling point of the Catalyst is that it just works, and you can review trackside.
Quick follow up on the Catalyst: I enjoyed it -- it works well for someone who knows what they are doing and are searching for time.
Pros:
- really easy to set up and use, one time to calibrate the video, and then it was plug and play
- not too intrusive; by default it only tells you if you...
Agreed, the Supra is very quick, but not GT2 RS Clubsport quick in the hands of a driver who knows what they're doing.
It was pretty evident the driver of the RS wasn't really pushing in the corners.
The 3 cylinder is transversely mounted, so there's less space on the sides but a lot up front.
I'm pretty impressed they got a 6 cylinder in the car. The GRC doesn't have a particularly long nose.
McLaren really dropped the ball on their strategy not splitting Piastri and Norris, and not letting Piastri have a go since he seemed to be quicker.
Also, the cars are too big. That was a very dreary race to watch.
Got a rare nice April day so got out to the Ridge. GT7 seat time really helped; found 3 seconds and at a new PB.
I also got the Garmin Catalyst set up, and it’s pretty good and really easy to set up. Makes it easy to see where I can find some time. I’ll post a more detailed review later.
Yeah, everything points at Aston for 2026. I wonder if Alonso chooses to retire or if Lance chooses to go race WEC cars to open up a seat. I really hope it's Lance choosing to move on...
Red Bull are in full panic mode now.
They said they chose Liam over Yuki because he seemed like the better long term option, and that he needed time to grow, only to cut him after two races on tracks he hasn't really raced on in a car that's very difficult to drive; hopefully he gains...
Yeah I think Piastri is going to make a strong case for the lead McLaren driver if Lando keeps making mistakes.
Looks like Red Bull might just struggle for race pace because of how hard it is on tires. Same thing happened before the safety car last weekend.
Just watched practice for Shanghai. Looks like tire degradation and management is going to play a big role, which bodes well for McLaren.
Ferrari notably look better and Hamilton also seems to be getting more comfortable with the car.
I'd give Lawson some more time since he hadn't ever done a lap in Australia prior to this weekend. He definitely would've benefitted with another year at the junior team, but I don't think Yuki would be doing any better.
By this point, it's pretty clear the second car needs drivers who prefer...
Been a hot minute since I've been on the forum, but picked up a Garmin Catalyst for $100 out of pocket (and some crafty usage of work perks). Now waiting for some good weather to actually go to the Ridge to see how it goes!
You do realize he was saying this regarding tire changes under red flag conditions right, not about Max's drive?
The media had a field day framing his quotes for sensationalist journalism.
