Swickard's been cool with my modded car. I even gave them the oil I wanted. Just had them order the filter. I'll probably go the DIY route at Stu's DIY garage once the warranty is up.
Honestly, I wouldn't really compare it to the muscle cars at all. I can't really think of a car priced below the Supra that does what the Supra does as well. None of the pony cars have the same track aptitude or the premium interior. Their main selling point is "we have a V8", cost, and back...
I have a feeling it'll be more than the auto due to high demand and insanely low supply lower demand. Maybe even gate the manual behind a special edition like the CF and charge some massive price over the 3.0 premium, because, and this is key, they can and because someone will pay up.
Edit...
No doubt they'll stage a bunch of it -- stuff that makes a difference like mods under the hood, tires, having the Supra driver leave it in comfort mode, etc. Basically it's going to be an unfair comparison just for views.
Then they'll have the ridiculous titles "MY Z GAPPED A MODDED SUPRA! NOT...
I'm not a Vancouve-based owner, but if you guys are interested in stopping by at some point: German Car Day at Leavenworth is Sunday June 5th, and us Seattleites would love to see some Vancouver folk come down to enjoy the drive on US-2 and see a lot of nice (mostly German) cars in the nice...
TItan7 TS5s are forged, and a split 5 spoke setup which do come in 18s, so they'll be lighter for sure (estimate ~5 lbs per wheel), and are extremely budget friendly compared to your other forged options -- I ended up paying $3k for mine, which is great for a forged set. However, I'm not 100%...
It's not just the Supra. I've experienced the same problem on my parent's 99 Camry and 04 Highlander, as well as my uncle's '18 Camry. It seems to pop up in other models as well. Toyota has never really solved this issue well across the range, from what it seems like.
JB4 is a piggyback, not an unlock. It's your most cost-effective option, but limited in what you can achieve.
A proper unlock (as of today, January 25th, 2022) will require pulling the ECU, and shipping it to Femto in Russia for an unlock. If you want an Ecutek tune, it will require cloning...
I bought mine from Swickard back in Dec 2020. Had a good experience with them. It was a bit pricier than East Coast listings, but at the time, I didn't want to deal with driving it back, shipping, or PPF (basically a requirement on the car).
@mrefvem is with Toyota of Kirkland, if you want to...
