I understand - typically objective evidence is used when making blanket claims that piggybacks are unsafe.
I just want one person to show me a datalog of a JB4 killing an engine. ?‍♂️
Yeah I get it, its fine that the concept of "fooling sensors" is something you aren't comfortable with - but also, don't offer advice on things you don't understand ?
I'm with you that a flash tune is the better option overall, but you are talking a ~4x price difference and guaranteed warranty...
Curious where you think all the risk of the JB4 is coming from. The only risk on track is high IATs which will pull so much timing that it negates the boost additive of the JB4. That's why people switch it off to Map 0.
I genuinely don't know where all the "JB4 risk" narrative comes from...
That's how I have mine on. Left blinker canflap(BC) setting - opens the flap like 5 seconds after cold start. Super loud. Sucks that the two blinker OEM operation mode doesn't work at all.
Unfortunately, some days it still has the throttle closures. Like a few maps I've tried, I got it working, then it was back to throttle closures/DME_BT drops on the next drive.
I am working with Terry at BMS to get a custom JB4 board with fuel control to manage my trims issues that I discussed...
Catless downpipe already runs more boost and JB+ adding 4.5psi on top of that is something like 6psi over stock, which is usually 15-16psi.
Not saying that ~22psi will kill anything. I ran exactly what you did for a little while and had to jump to JB4 to fix the smoothness issues. Now I get a...
I actually got it running near perfect as of this week! running 20psi on 93 no problem, just need to fine tune at this point. I usually drive the car in traction mode, you'd be surprised how well it actually hooks due to longer gears than auto.
The spin is minimal when accelerating in a straight
I wonder how much of a difference it actually makes. Say a "cold air" intake does raise IATs by ~10 degrees, does that really matter when the air is >200F post turbo/pre intercooler?
I have been debating getting just a simple open air intake like the BMS one for noise alone, but not if there's...
Editing this post after a VERY successful logging session today.
Wrap up the thread! I've finally got a smooth map 20psi 3k-6.5k pulls without throttle closure. Trims are still a little high but not enough to cause issues. just kidding, they are! still have issues.
The missing piece was PID...
double income no kids here (for a little bit) ? I'm fine with JB4 for now since my power goals are no more than 470whp. Should be achievable when I get it dialed in on E30.
