I am an Apex fanboy myself, but I might grab some forged 5 spokes wheels from Alibaba. The quality of the stuff on there is close to the stuff the big companies buy, bring over and sell to us.
It's the same thing.

That's been the whole debacle for awhile around wheels recently. The argument is that you're not getting the QC, safety, and certifications you do with the companies. But with most of them being produced in China anyways you have to wonder if they really even test this stuff, or they're just taxing you.

The benefit is if you snap your spokes on the highway and roll the car into a concrete wall at 80 MPH you actually have a western company you can go after and sue (I doubt insurance will cover a major accident caused by buying chinese modifications.) Buy it direct from China and good luck ever getting a dime from anyone.

EDIT: I absolutely trust and support Apex Wheels and don't intend for this to be shade or or a negative stance against them at all, what I mean is that I wouldn't buy direct-from-China wheels no matter who that factory/manufacturer supplies.

How tf are you going to sue Apex if a wheel spoke snaps?

lets see what @Apex Wheels has to say about that claim.

I've never heard of Apex wheels failing either, not saying that their wheels are bad in the slightest in fact I've recommended them to people before. I'm saying that you're taking a risk when you buy "direct from source" even if they're "the exact same wheel" because of how much harder it would potentially be to hold anyone accountable if you happen to get a defective wheel, something that I would never fear from Apex or any other wheel brand made in China, but would absolutely fear if I bought from China directly.

I could have worded that better, probably still didn't come across correctly here tbh, I apologize! :coffee:

I think you may want to check out this video we produced on this topic.

I can't speak to every brand out there, but I can 1000% confirm that with Apex you're not getting the same product from the fakes, and the product you are getting is below our engineering quality.

I look at our wheels all day every day, so I am admittedly more keen on them than most, but I've yet to run into a situation where I couldn't immediately spot a fake off of visuals alone from the corners they cut.

In regards to the delay of the 5-spoke wheel - I fully understand everyone's frustration. I'm also not very thrilled that they aren't ready as I want them for myself. I got to take home one of the pre-production samples which I love (and can confirm the wheel is real), but I'm stuck waiting for stuff I can actually use just the same.

If you guys are feeling impatient and want to shop elsewhere, I totally understand that desire. I just strongly suggest against going the "Alibaba" route.

Any replica wheels will first of all be heavier. Not to mention they are forged out of lower quality metals. Say you need to straighten a wheel after hitting a bigger hole or bump, your fake wheels will crack upon heating them up, while OEM and quality wheels are repairable almost every time. If you are replacing your OEM wheels, make sure they are at least lighter, otherwise it is just ruining the car.
