Fair point; I was speaking from knowledge primarily of the U.S. market.

Trust me though, as someone that's in the room with these people constantly, it will not happen in this case.

Another thing that I should caveat is that this has been far more of a point recently versus years past. The gap between the companies is widening more and more, especially as executives have been attempting to push the two further apart for marketing reasons.

speaking of that motor though, there are some musings that it could make its way into the LC :)

This needs to happen ASAP. The LC with the TTV6 and a base price of $80k would sell like hot cakes IMO.

Yeah, as long as it doesn't end up in the hybrid one haha. I'm pretty sure they meant replacing the V8 though

That thing is ancient, but I would rather see the LC500h go. Sales of the LS-h and GS-h were pretty crappy if I recall correctly. Not sure why Toyota keeps trying to shove the hybrid versions of their higher end models down people's throat when hardly anyone is biting (US). :dunno:

^If they don't give the LC a new drivetrain/a more affordable entry level model; than I think sales will drop and it will be on the chopping block like with the SC430.

One rumour was that it would be the powerplant for the LC-F.... But I hope not. The 2UR is a beautiful engine.

don't think they really care and considering Toyota/Lexus rarely only make 1 generation of any model (even the SC got 2 gens) I don't think they'll kill it off right away. The LFA didn't count since it was on a bespoke platform/chassis..

technically four - z10, z20, z30, z40... as it was a rebadged Soarer after all

yes, you could look at it that way too. either way, just goes to show toyota rarely only produces 1 generation of any model.

Yeah, the pricing structure for the LC is in the stratosphere, and if you knew how much parts binning that car has youd really be like why the hell does it cost that much, but they wanted a current flagship coupe so here we are.

The LC-F GRMN prototype had a 4L V8 earlier this year, which I believe the rumors correctly guessed. They could easily put the TT V6 in the car though, especially since the LC rides on the same platform as the LS.

^I was going to say something along those lines. Paying almost $100k for a sexy looking car to only have a 10 year motor that is found in cheaper F models.

yep, the motor is parts bin (with a small tweak to add a few hp), the chassis itself is parts bin, and several other components that I'm forgetting.

the engineer that worked on that car had a mediocre budget too, and yet they ended up charging a ton for car. he was able to design a new transmission for that car though IIRC, so I guess thats good.

(I'm sort of distant with the Lexus circles; you get cross talk from the engineers, but I only personally know one engineer from Lexus, and hes the 'F' dept head)

yes, the HS and CT did only get 1 generation each, but to be fair Toyota & Lexus cannibalized themselves with that segment as they had the Camry hybrid, Avalon hybrid, CT hybrid, ES hybrid & HS hybrid all occupying the $30-40 K range. It is interesting to note though the HS & CT were discontinued for the US market, they are both still being produced and sold around the world not to mention the CT even got a refresh recently
