So its sold out in Europe and Japan, but according to the internet it's a sale flop.
As above, total European Supra allocation for production year 1 was just 900 cars. For a region with a population over 700 million people. Please keep some perspective. There was never any doubt they would find 900 buyers amongst a customer base of 700 million.

Selling a tiny production allocation does not equal a sales success. If Toyota Europe sold just 900 Corollas (or Auris?) in Europe, or Porsche sold just 900 Caymans, no-one would call it a sales success! Edit - just looked up Cayman numbers, they sell between 3 and 4,000 a year in Europe. And a Cayman is hardly a common manā€™s high volume sportscar!

The tiny production numbers for the Supra are in some ways a blessing, because it means they should sell every one they make. There are enough fans and true believers to sell a couple thousand each year. If by some miracle they ramped production up to higher numbers, say 30,000+ a year, then we might see if they still sell every one they make.

Iā€™m not saying its a bad car! Just pointing out the ultra low production numbers mean you canā€™t say much about true demand, compared with a situation where production was much higher.

Same story with the 86. First year of production, thereā€™s too much hype and demand. Cars were selling like hotcakes. You have to patiently wait, fall in line, to be able to get yours. The following years, itā€™ll be much easier to order one. Usually, these kinds of cars are on a per-order-basis; and considering the Supraā€™s price is almost double that of the 86.

I think....when the Supra sales numbers are declining, thatā€™s when Toyota will bring out the manual to bring back the hype again. Itā€™s all part of their marketing strategy. o_O

Low supply makes a greater demand, and all these confirmed sales mean that we will get more Supras in future.

If they were testing the waters for the first year then i think they are convinced now, and manual versions should be happening.

Anyways, all sold out means good news for us.

The longer the wait as well:rofl:

Toyota President Akio Toyoda already said that good things come to those who wait. For sure they have planned something grander for those whoā€™ll wait.

This is great news, but also pisses m off. There is obviously a demand for this car and has been for years... just look at this article. The fact Toyota didn't go all out on this thing disappoints me. Regardless, I'm excited to see how well it does in its first couple of years here in the US.
