He's a rookie, doing rookie things. He'll be alright. Apparently he got a good thrashing from Helmut Marko so he'll be more careful. I say he'll finish qualy in Q2.

A wild Lando appeared this qualifying.
Also, it'll be nice to have Sergio in the second row to help support Max in the race.
Sucks for Valtteri, his team let him down again.
I agree with the announcers on this one, you don't test a new get away while there are people in the pit lane.

Honestly, I don't know what was going on with the pit lane in general. There were multiple instances of drivers making mistakes.

How did the team let Valterri down? He spun it lol.

The team decided to test pulling away from the pit in 2nd gear.

Mercedes saw that they were losing time in the pits and came up with the idea to pull away in 2nd instead. This, coupled with the odd track conditions in the pit lane itself, caused Valtteri to spin.

Not saying Valtteri doesn't have some of the fault here, just that the team is mostly to blame here. Had they not told Valtteri to pull away in 2nd, they would have a 2nd Merc at the front.

If Mercedes wanted to test out a different strategy for pulling away they should have done it when there wasn't anyone in the pit lane, or at least warned the teams near them to stay clear instead of putting people's lives in danger without telling them about it. Would have avoided the grid-drop penalty for Valtteri at least.

I see your point. I'm sure every driver does what Bottas was doing - slightly peeling off tire - and I'm also sure that the condition caught him by surprise possibly with moisture on the painted surface of pit lane. On a completely dry surface on a hot day, it probably would not have happened. It is unfortunate for it to happen to Bottas. It's almost as if his "Not So Good Luck" is never ending this season... possibly saving one more grid position if it wasn't for Yuki.

Speaking of Yuki! Looks like everyone had their crystal balls calibrated, dialed in perfect! He did not crashed out in Quali despite the odd. Now, he is in 4 out 8. So everyone Wins! and has bragging right! :D

on the Bottas, ultimately, he is the one who is controlling the car... I hate to say it because he is one of my favorite driver but in this occasion, it is mostly at his fault...

On the other side, thanks to Yuki, now, George is 10th! I was heartbroken when he missed Q3 by .008 seconds but /w Yuki's grid penalty, he is starting in 10th! Well done, mate!

So tomorrow, Lando Norris like splitting wood like Chuck Norris, has split RB1, MB1 and RB2, MB2. I think it's going to be another interesting race! ;)

Great drive from Charles. Impressive recovery.

Looked like an easy drive for Max, managed to lap Lando in P5 fairly early on. Just incredible pace.

I think Valtteri had a good race as well, recovering from P5 to P3.
Looking forward to next weekend's race.

Great drive from Charles???? What! He takes out Gasly, and almost himself, and then drives back to a position he should've been in to begin with.

Him being able to get back to that position is what I would call a great drive. Any other "normal" driver would have finished back of the pack after that, but Charles put his head down and scored some much needed points for the team.

Gasly's tire puncture was a typical racing incident caused by the chaotic situation of lap 1/turn 1. Charles was rejoining the track after being forced wide from Gasly (who was forced wide from Alonso).

Gasly collided with Charles first, and when Charles was checking his mirrors and rejoining the track he scrapped Gasly's rear tire...shit happens. Even Gasly said Charles wasn't at fault here.

There was an entire post-turn 1 chaotic scrap happening that the camera didn't really capture during the race. You have to watch all of the on-boards to see it. Pretty much Alonso, Gasly, and Charles are all at fault for Gasly's puncture.

To recover from that with an extra pit stop and being dead last and still manage to score just behind his teammate is nothing short of a great drive.

Well.. on that, if Max did it, it would've been great driving but anyone else did it, worst ever. :D

besides that, it was a great driving although it was at his fault for incident /w Gasley. Surprised to see nothing was investigated if I remember correctly. I guess it was a racing incident. ;)

heart broken /w George.. again... I thought he was going to get some point this time. went to rest room and came back and I don't see his name any more.. then I found out he is out of race! perhaps I should've hold.. ?

nail biting for Bottas because he was doing great through the weekend and glad to see him at the podium as well as MB's strategy /w fastest lap for Hamilton. But if RB pitted Perez 1 lap earlier, Bottas may had lost the podium! that was great driving from Perez as well! Some laps, he was gaining over 2 seconds! o_O over all good race although wasn't a lot of action.

It happened on the straight after the turn. He just drove his wing into Gasly's tire. He had plenty room on his left too. Was completely unnecessary. Honestly he's lucky he didn't get a penalty.

Yeah Perez lost too much time behind Norris at the beginning of the race. Had he cleared him at the start, he would've had a podium.

That's the part of racing. ;)
Very true! At the same time, RBR botched Perez's first pit stop which would've gotten him a podium too. Those 2 seconds wasted were huge.

Can't wait for Sunday.

For the 1st time in this season, team rank has not changed! so the score stayed as same as last week. It is a bit surprise to me because with George's retirement, I thought Williams and Haas would switch rank.. with 0 points to both team, it's hard to guess who is ahead...
