I’ve been getting the PRS malfunction warning, and I understand from the Supra Forums online that it’s related to the wiring beneath the passenger seat. At first I just manipulated - jiggled - the junction box, and it cured it…for about a week. But now the warning is back.
It is intermittent. Sometimes it goes off every minute then it won’t go off for half an hour. Under the Messages menu, it will show “no messages” when the warnings are not occurring.
I have now actually disconnected the connector and reconnected it, but it’s storming outside right now so I haven’t taken it out for a drive since this intervention.
There is no moisture to speak of under the seat nor anywhere in the interior of this vehicle. No liquids have ever been spilled on the seat.
The warning appears or without a passenger in the seat. When it’s not appearing, there can either be a passenger present or not. So I don’t believe the sensor itself is the problem.
I know another thread regarding this issue was created months ago but I wondered whether more owners were having this issue and whether a more definitive Do It Yourself solution has been found.
Any suggestions?
