Passenger Restraint System Malfunction

Did you unplug something in the passenger door when it happened? Wondering if it has nothing to do with moisture getting in there and just something triggered by unplugging it maybe

I made an appointment to take it into the dealership, the car is still under warranty so hoping it’s a not a big deal.
I did however make a few minor non related BimmerCode changes, I’m wondering if I should put everything back to normal, I’m not sure if they will void my warranty

I would definitely revert the changes if they are simple enough to do. Just to save yourself from potential dealer bs.

I was trying to be very careful when replacing the passenger glass. The only thing I can think of that might have caused the light was that, when I finished putting the glass back on, I wanted to test it out. When reconnecting the door harness, I forgot to connect the side impact sensor. That might have triggered it. And I only realized the light was on after putting EVERYTHING back.

^ Okay makes sense why it happened after tint with having the door panel removed and unplugging stuff, good info.

I took mine to the dealership as it wasn’t going away, turns out it was water that got in there so was not covered by warranty. Stealership got me but my tint guy agreed to help with the bill.

Just happened to me after getting PPF and tint done as well.... Ran Bimmerlink and it indicated a "short circuit" in the driver side door airbags without an option to clear the error. Bringing the car to the dealer this weekend to have it looked at.

what ended up happening? just got my window replaced and have the same issue. Thanks

Happened to me. Went away 2 days later.

You clear the code or just left it? I got my windshield done and it popped "Restraint system" for me instead of Passenger. I'll just give it a few days to dry up.
