I have been waiting for a MT since the original spy shoots of the MKV were released. The original MK4 was a dream car of mine in the 90s when I was a young man. And I could never swing it so I opted for the next best thing which was its platform mate the Lexus SC300 5speed. I drove the wheels off that example in my youth but always loved that car. I had many driver cars after it when my income increased from G35, WRX, CTSV, Porsches and a Corvette but always held a sweet spot in my heart for the visceral Inline 6, RWD platform.
funny thing about the MK4 is they built it so well they couldnāt sell them as Toyotas but they sold a ton of them as a Lexus. But the Lexus mostly neutered their sporty perspective. That said they made few thousand with manual transmissions and for the most part any Supra part bolted on directly to the SC. About 6 or 7 years I located the example I always wanted when I was a kid which was a post face lift 1997 sc300 5speed with one of the last 120 they made with a stick. One of the reason the 2JZ is so beloved is it was over built and post face lift Toyota came out with the variable valve timing version VVTI but they also put lesser internals in them and they didnāt want bother certifying the manual transmission with the new 2JZ for the SC which was already nearing the end of its life. They ended up only making 120 of them post Face lift.
I bolted on a rare 97 NA Supra LSD which was a direct fit and the same gear ratio and the simple mods I always wanted as a young man like tein coilovers and exhaust coupled to replacing all the rubbers and set a racing hearts 3 piece wheels. I thought I would share with the group. She only just crossed 60k miles.
