More rigid than Z4 is probably just marketing, because of course it will be more rigid, that's common sense. I have always thought that by more focused sports car they would be referring to the tuning of the suspension and engine, which can totally change the feel of the car compared to the Z4.

BTW, I'm not a Toyota fan nor do I plan or have I ever wanted a Supra, so there's no wishful thinking on my end. I'm just trying to use what info we have with what we know from other models from BMW.

I love people with common sense, this forum needs it bad.

This is the first time I heard of this new B46. All the media assumed it was going to be the B48. Anyone has more info?
I had previously never heard of the B46 either, appears it is just the SULEV version of the B48.
SULEV = Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle

Couldn't we get a rough number by find out the weight differences between the B58 and B48/B46 and adding it onto the Z4 30i?
I’m calling it right now 3,300+ for the i6 Supra. Don’t lose sleep over it.

It looks so much better in this color. I also find it odd that BMW hasn't shown the US spec Z4. :what:

There is a 271lb difference between Coupe and convertible versions of the 2 series of the same engine/model. So I would def say there is room to make It to 3200 or less for the Supra. A lot more bracing and such is required for a convertible chassis to give it the rigidity of a coupe chassis, all the weight isn't in the mechanical rag top.
I think 3,200lbs could be possible for a base or non-loaded I6 Supra. If I recall correctly both Tada and the bimmerpost insider has said the Supra will be more bare-bones in comparison to the Z4.

Doubt it. We’ll see though.

Yeah I believe he said the barebone model won't have a nav system or even power seats.

not to mention that both forum insiders, moto miwa and one other (let me find it later) have said that the mass is close to 1400kg.

from the insiders I have spoken to - seemingly reputable sources - have indicated that 3080-3200lbs is not out of the question.

we can only wait and see I guess.
