Plenty of reviews on the AA DP. Anyone have the Cat-Back with or without the Catted DP? Looking for a Cat-Back to go with the DP and would prefer a setup that retains the valve. How does it sound? Any drone? How does it compare to the AWE touring? Magnaflow? Big difference between valve open and closed? Can’t find anything except a quick 20/30 second clip on YouTube.

On YouTube, suprA91 has an AA downpipe with the AA exhaust and quite a few videos. I think he's somewhere around the forum as well, I believe under the name @Jackyl tm . He's responded to me in the comments on his YouTube videos before and he seems to really like the exhaust.

AA exhaust is like what you can expect from the AA downpipe. Great sound, great design.

Let us know if you need assistance!

It sounds great and doesn’t really drone in comfort until you get past ~2.2k rpm. It’s pretty quiet at 75 and ok at 80. I wouldn’t recommend any catback with an aftermarket downpipe unless you want to add some resonators yourself if you consistently travel for long distances above those speeds and care about drone.

I have the AA dp on my car… I myself am not happy with it (just personal preference not a quality issue just not loud enough) I have plenty of compliments with sound but I’m not happy with it

I can't speak for other setups, but I can say that the AA downpipe + HKS Super Turbo catback has zero drone in normal mode at any speed. In sport mode there is some drone right at 2k RPM, but above and below that is fine, or you can switch to normal mode and it disappears.

Big difference with it in comfort v sport mode? It has an awesome sound from the videos, but I do really want something more quiet in Comfort and then to be LOUD in sport. Thanks!

I have an AA catted DP and AA exhaust that maintains the valvetronics. I think it sounds fantastic. Probably bias, but one of the best combos I've heard on an a90 supra. The sound is subtle (won't alarm nearby LE) in comfort mode and really wakes up when in sport mode. Some slight drone when you are in a higher gear at slow speeds, but very bearable. Only gripe (or not) is lots of pops and bangs on decel in sport mode.

Any exhaust clips? Good to hear it isn’t too loud in comfort and wakes up in sport!

There’s a pretty big difference. It’s a pretty great system to have on a daily and is very livable. Like I mentioned it does start to drone at higher speeds but it’s perfect for every day commuting at 55-85ish mph. Only problem you might have is getting the fitment aligned perfectly so it’s not vibrating against anything under the car. The system has guide holes for you to line up but even then you may find that you have to do some adjusting. Don’t forget to check it again after the first heat cycle to readjust anything that may have shifted.

Thank you! May be ordering the catback to go with the AA Downpipe here shortly and this is on the list with the AWE touring. Having a lot of trouble deciding between the two!

I was between the AA and AWE as well. I chose the AA because I wanted to keep the valve so my neighbors don’t get mad when I have to get up early and I don’t attract so much attention from law enforcement, AA is very well known in the BMW world for quality, it isn’t as bulky so it doesn’t reduce ride height as much, and according to my mechanic it’s “10x” easier to align than AWE. Also helps that AA is within driving distance of me so once they finished making it I just picked it up and got it installed later that day.
