any former mustang owners want to compare their supra experience to their former car?

i dont think the supra has beaten a camaro or a mustang in any performance metric or around any track theyve been compared on that Ive seen so far? 0-60, 1/4 et, 1/4 mph, nurburgring,

i mean dont get me wrong, for my money it’s a supra too; but lets not forget how fast these American pony cars are now for the money. Theyre legit entry level sports cars now with 1LE/PP2 option boxes ticked.
Car and Driver has the 2021 Supra at a 3.7 sec 0-60, 12.1 sec 1/4. A 2021 Mustang GT runs 4.4 sec 0-60, 12.8 sec 1/4. I take magazine results with a grain of salt, but same mag, same tests are normally comparable.

2021 Supra is actually much faster than an SS auto. As in several car lengths to 150mph... and gets 30%+ better mpg.
Looks like aerodynamics catch-up to the SS at higher speeds maybe?

in fairness, a mullet still works in a Camaro, whereas it’s out of place in a Supra.

Might not be apples to apples since it's different days, conditions, drivers, etc...but I see a trend there
those werent 1LE or PP cars used for those times, unfortunately.

the trap speeds tell the story. Even the 17-18 years with the manual boxes beat the supra trap speed by 2-3mph. With the ‘20 10speed boxes that number goes up to 5mph ~113 vs ~118. Thats a massive gap. 0-60 seems to vary all over the place for all of them based on the launch.

id be really curious to see a supra with some kind of “trd” package like the 1le or pp, that made suspension improvements and gave better tires. The lighter weight of the supra would be something id like to see exploited more.

I had a 2004 Mustang GT in Sonic Blue that was a good bit of fun...probably not a good comparison given the 15 year time gap between that and my 2020 Supra. But for what its worth I miss the roominess inside, seems as cars get newer the interior space shrinks as B pillars and dashes get bigger. V8 sounded good too. Everything else Supra wins hands down

the ‘21 numbers are much stronger than the ‘20’s for sure. Thanks for sharing.

curious to see the top end hold up better with the new ‘21.

There's really 3 things that pushed me away from a gt350...(A good friend of mine gave me a ride in a 2018 GT PP2)
1. Unique Looks...Let's be real you see a mustang every 2 miles
2. MPGs/Daily-ability (26mpg sport mode spirited driving cant be beat by a v8)
3. American Reliability ...I've always had a bias against american cars for longevity

The price to performance is significantly more impressive with the pony cars without a doubt and the v8s are gnarly sounding, but it really depends on what you want to do with the car...I was very impressed when I read about the PP2 Mustang GT schmokin a 21 supra around the track...serious bang for buck.

I had a 2015 Mustang GT Premium not long after they came out.

It was fat and had a soft suspension (non performance pack). It never felt as fast to me as I thought it should.

I went 11.9 in a bone stock 2019 Mustang GT with the 10spd auto and performance pack. Those numbers are way off.

I have had 3 heavily modified Mustangs and they were all great after they were set up to my liking. Could have bought my wife a 2022 Mustang but she wasn’t really excited about it. They are a dime a dozen around here and ready for a restyling. Supra is a much nicer car and doesn’t feel like I need to immediately drop 10 to 15k to make it into what we want. There was always another mod that the Mustang needed and when you finally get it set up your ready for new toy. Supra is great as is but we will get a JB4 and DP and just enjoy it.
