Are stock intakes better than cold air intakes?

I have no doubts they were trying to do their very best -with the amount of money the were allocate with.

Their designs also need to last through the warranty period, meet emissions/environmental/fuel economy/NVH requirements, be straight-forward to manufacture, work with their assembly lines. Any aftermarket part that's a cheap performance gain sacrifices one of those metrics, usually environmental or NVH.
