Has anyone swapped diffs?

I've recently been thinking about what would be needed to swap a manual diff to an auto diff. I believe externally they are the same but I am unsure what would go into the swap because of electronics involved with the diff. Im mainly interested in the lower ratio of the auto. Realistically its only a few mph difference in 1st and 2nd but allows for better highway cruising turning 6th into an overdrive gear.

I also believe it could help with traction in the lower gears especially with fbo and tuned cars.

Any input is appreciated.

I have no real insight but this very much seems like another "if you have enough money anything is possible" project.. that is essentially not possible.

It's actually a higher or taller diff ratio in the Auto and the result is as you outline. It's not a designation of the actual numbers but a reference to the engine rpm V road speed. The Manual diff is way lower than it needs to be with an engine with a torque curve the B58 has same as first gear is also much lower than it needs to be. The 1st to second change would also be improved a little with the taller auto diff in my experience.
I've also thought about the swap to the auto diff but wondered as well about the various coding stuff. I'd really prefer a close ration gearbox with a taller first gear. I think they chose the first gear ratio for the majority of city users and maybe for stoplight racers because it's totally useless anywhere else
