Big Brake Upgrades via the BMW G series catalog

Hi!

For those who wanted to try it: a 395 mm brake with the G05 caliper does NOT fit under stock 20-22 rims.

Does anyone know whether the ‘facelift’ rims 22 and above are more brake-friendly or wider?

I installed 374 front and 370 rear on g20, only thing i needed to modify was the parking brake wire plug, You need to melt abit it to clip inside. Rest was plug and play also rear disc screw was aligned with g20 hub. And I tested and 18" m perf wheels fit Style M796

see the black "slots" in the plug housing that need to be melted/grinded off.

Did you melt off all 3 of the tabs or just the two on one side?

Very much appreciate this post. I was able to have most the parts ready for when my z4 arrived and months to keep an eye out for cheap used parts. Went g8x used calipers, used (look nearly new) pads and new two piece rotors for $2700 for front & rear and expect to sell the stock components for a premium since front only have 77 miles and rear 600.

I did go off the spreadsheet and didnt read every post so unfortunately I bought g8x rear rotors/hats. Someone else commented that 27mm spacers perfectly centered the calipers on g8x rotors. Mine appear to need 28.3mm to be perfectly centered on speed by design rear two piece rotors. I'll double check next week when I get new legible measuring calipers and longer bolts

There are 1-1/16" (27mm) aluminum spacers on amazon that are only $20/5pcs. ID and OD are perfect. Then add washers if needed. You also need four ~70mm long m12x1.5 bolts due to the spacers. My local hardware store didnt have them so I used mcmaster.com 65mm or 75-80mm might work, I'll double check once I finish next week.

I followed this thread and just completed installing the front and rear brakes on my 21 Supra. I ended up using the 27mm aluminum spacers for the rears. Worked great. Also, the front brakes just barely fit the stock 19 inch wheels.
