I keep reading that there have been CELs with the new cat and AA either doesn't respond or blames the o2 sensors

What's up with that no CEL guarantee?
we have sold hundreds of them without any issues

and as for the guarantee, if you get the CEL, they will replace the downpipe for free, that's what the guarantee is about

also never had a single warranty claim rejected as far as I know so I'm not sure where you are reading these claims but I recommend posting links to them.

I had a couple of these lately while doing a custom e20 tune, but it was due to my trims being too high which caused it to go into limp. This specific code only came up 2 out of 5 or 6 times it went into limp though. What were you doing when this popped up?

They pop up soon as leave home. Pull over, delete, then keep driving. I have been testing the JB4 on Map 2 lately. Haven’t gone higher than Map2

That's going to be an issue with the dp or o2 sensor. Unrelated to having the jb4 unless you're running ethanol or bad fuel and it's related to the tune not running well

No downpipe guarantees 100% CEL-free experience, but what matters most is comparing the number of failures relative to the total number sold. Based on my own sales, the failure rate is less than 1%.

also, we've never had any warranty denied by active. As far as I know, every warranty claim we've handled has been replaced

Still not technically legal in California. Just an FYI for people.
They are technically not legal ANYWHERE in the USA.

The only way this downpipe would be federally legal is if it had TWO cats that were EPA approved (and properly sized for engine size, power, etc.).

The fact that the secondary cat is removed from the downpipe makes it illegal. Illegal everywhere on a public road. Period.

If you run this downpipe, you're breaking federal law.

Should you care about that? That's purely up to you.

Man, this is pure smoke and mirrors and unfair to buyers, and I've always had an issue with them suggesting that somehow this isn't breaking the law.

Hey XPH, you might want to remove this statement from your website, you're setting yourself up for some serious EPA scrutiny:

  • Federal law prohibits tampering with emissions control devices; this product is compliant with EPA standards.

Secondary cat is 100% an emissions device. It's been removed from this product and replaced with a straight section of tube (test pipe), that's tampering.

Under federal law, catalytic converters may not be removed
and replaced with "converter replacement pipes' by any person.
The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments even prohibit private
individuals from installing "converter replacement pipes" on their
own vehicles. Anyone who installs such pipes would violate section
203(a)(3)(A) and (B) of the Clean Air Act (Act).
